Revlon Parfumerie Nail Enamel in Wintermint

OH MY GOD. I've had these photos taken for forever now, but never remembered to post about them. Yeah, this happens way too often.... that's why there are folders and folders of raw images stuck on my desktop.

Sigh!

My sister purchased these polishes by Revlon lately, from the new Parfumerie range! Yes, they are scented. Individually scented.

Wintermint is a pretty.... mmmhm... Should I say "pearly" or "frosty"? Not sure. It seems to be neither, nor is it shimmery. The finish is very strange (as you could see in the swatches below). It looks sandy like those sandy-textured lacquers, with a bit of a metallic-base sheen.

Yes! It's a light-mint based polish, with small blue glitters and reflective micro-glitters.

Okay, now the SCENT!

If you like or don't mind scented nail polishes, you won't have a problem with this. However, if you're like me, one who can't really stand scented nail polishes, then... these are probably not for you to play with. The scent is not faint. Adding to that, they are also rather pricey so in my opinion, I don't think it's worth paying $16.95 for one-time use if you can't stand the scent. Do consider this, before any purchases!

Back to Wintermint though..

Does it have a minty-scent?! YES!
Do I like it? NO!

Why? Umm.... The scent is rather strange, it's minty, but I can still smell the chemical spice. The mix of both scents makes me want to puke a bit every single time I touch my nose, ESPECIALLY when I'm applying my face creams! God!!!

In all, yeah, I can't really stand scented nail polishes. However, Wintermint is one of a kind. It's nothing you can find from any other ranges from other brands, so.... Yes!

+1 for the colour!
-2 for the scent!

Jokes.

Have you tried Revlon's Parfumerie Nail Enamel range?!

By the way, after looking back at this colour, I've realised that it matches the colour theme of my blog a lot! Hahaha!

Revlon Parfumerie Nail Enamel, $16.95, available in 24 shades, at Priceline, Big W and other Revlon stockists.

Saturday's Swatches: Max Factor NEW Excess Intensity Longwear Eyeliner

I haven't done any swatch posts in yonks!

I've promised that I'll quickly get down to swatches of Face Of Australia's new Siren Nail Collection, but since I haven't finished the post yet, here's a swatch post on these new eyeliners by Max Factor!

I had no idea these were launched together with their new Excess Volume Extreme Impact Mascara that I've mentioned last in this month's launch post, until I saw these at Big W. Strange that they didn't post up any information on these, because they seem quite promising!

When swatched, the pigmentation seemed to vary by shades. There are 6 shades in the range: gold, green, blue, silver, brown and black. The pigmentation seemed amazing for the gold, brown and black shades! Others seemed like they needed a few more glides back and forth to catch up with the payoff. However, still not bad!

The shimmering gold shade is beautiful. The brown and black are creamy and matte. These three shades really do tempt me, but the price gives my pocket a shock. The price is $21.95 per, if I could remember correctly...

Anyways, don't take this for a review post! I don't own these products (as much as I'd like to), these swatches were gathered after hitting up my local Big W. Haha! If you like these, go ahead!

Like I said, they seem quite promising. If you've happened try these already, make sure to spill with us on how they went for you too!

Happy weekend! x

Drugstore Cosmetics Launches for Australia - March 2014

Hello wello cello!

Greetings from uni, because 1 hour breaks (before a 3 hour language class) are just SO perfect to catch up on launch posts!

There are many, many new launches this month, from both "drugstore" and department store brands! Quite exciting actually. I think I'm just in the mood to spend and splurge! >~<

I'll try to keep you posted on the department launches, but for now, no promises yet! What I can promise you is that, one of these products to follow will surely make your heart thump! ^_^!

~

FACE OF AUSTRALIA (FOA)
Australia reppin' brand, FOA is launching some new, eggciting products for the month of March! A quick rundown....

  • Glamazon Leopardess Contour & Highlight Kit ($9.95) - Contains a matte pressed powder to contour and sculpt the features, along with an illuminating powder for your convenience. Also contains a large mirror. Travel and handbang friendly! I have these at home, I'll get swatching this weekend! Promiseeeeeee.
  • Glamazon Minx Blush & Highlihting Kit ($9.95) - For those who are not a fan of contouring, here's one for ya! A blush to replace the contouring powder. Same same packaging.

Screen Siren Limited Edition Nail Polish Collection ($4.95/8 shades)
Inspired by Marilyn Monroe, this collection features creamy nudes, pop oranges and poppy greens! Haven't heard too much about these, but the green and purple looks wonderful! Don't you think?

NATIO
Rarely do I see features of Natio. Glad to share a few new products by them, which will be launched towards the end of the month! P.S. I think this brand needs more TLC.... >_>

Natio Bloom & Glow Brow Finishing Gel ($12.95)
Shapes and frames the eyebrows with natural colour, volume and hold. Available in 1 neutral brown shade only. I've been looking for something like this, but what I need to pay attention to more is ANY Natio stand near me.... = =^

Natio Bloom & Glow Cream Blush Stick ($17.95/not sure how many shades)
I'm pretty sure Natio would have more than one shade in this range, just didn't state how many. The formula of these claims to apply smoothly, and easily with a buildable application.

Natio Bloom & Glow Cream to Powder Foundation ($19.95/2 shades)
A lightweight foundation that leaves a shine-free powder finish. If I'm not wrong, this formula is cream-based, but applies and wears like a powder (lightweight and matte). Described to offer natural coverage that evens the skin tone without masking. Available in two shades, because we are only available in two shades.. /sarcasm

Natio Bloom & Glow Mineral Face Illuminator ($17.95)
A bloom-embossed palette that features ivory and rose pink tones to lift and brighten the complexion. Also said to suit all skin types. Available in a golden ivory/soft rose duo.

Natio Bloom & Glow Pen Eyeliner ($14.95/1 shade)
Looks super chunky, this pen eyeliner. It accentuates eyes and define lashes. The wide barrel and soft tips facilitates precise application.

Natio Bloom & Glow Shine Lipstick ($14.95/2 shade)
A lipstick. Creamy and moisturising, they say. Available in a wide range of 2 shades.

Max Factor Excess Volume Extreme Impact Mascara ($25.95)
Described to be "double-ended". Combines volume with a black lacquer finish. There's a thickening base coat offers high volume, meanwhile, the top coat leaves the lashes with a glossy coating that smooths and seals. Eep. Double-ended mascara... Only seen the fibre mascaras, none of this yet!

Bourjois Paris Black Jack Mascara ($22)
An intense black mascara that has been "formulated with micro-particles of gold for a shimmering effect". Described to be volumising, clump-free and paraben-free. The "shimmering effect" sounds scary.

L'Oreal Paris False Lash Butterling Wings Mascara ($25.95)
A lengthening-based mascara. Designed with an "Amplifying Brush" which will stretch and lengthen each lash to the outer corner of your eyes. Yes plz. My Asian lashes needs something like this, but I won't buy into the price..... and the name. Eek.

NP Set Bronze Blush & Go Duo ($28)
Yessssss, a drugstore brand. Half drugstore, half department... since you can find this Big W too. This is a powder duo, featuring a bronzer and a blusher. Formulated with some fancy antioxidants... basically, vitamin A-Z.

WOTNOT Facial Wipes for Oily/Sensitive Skin ($7.95)
OKAY. No sarcasm here! Really loved these wipes in the original formula. Now formulated for oily and sensitive skin users. I have a review of the original here, which left a bit of oil on my skin after removing my make-up. Felt iffy at first, but I grew to love it for my drier skin. Hope these will work out for those with oily skin types too.

The following is NOT a cosmetic product, but I feel like the brand is really worth a mention.

Cedel Dry Shampoo for Dark Hair ($8.99)

So that's a wrap up for this month's freshly launched products and sarcasm! ^_^ Hahaha..

Let me know which of these newbies made your heart thump!

I've actually received a kind care parcel by FOA yesterday, containing their whole collection of Siren nail lacquers! I'll get down to swatch them soon! ^_^

NOTD: Valentine's Day ft. Revlon & Face Of Australia

Hey u, yeah u.

Sharing with you my thoughts on Revlon's Parfumerie Nail Polish today! My sister purchased them recently, but I've yet to post about the haul (yeah, my sister purchased it, but I shall include it was my haul -- makes sense, right?). ^_^?!

For V-tines this year, I've decided to stay away from the fancy nail art. Feeling a bit ceebs, and I've came to realise that nail art + Tram just doesn't go well together. Haaaaaaaaa.

So I've decided to go for colour and glitter co-ordinations instead. Well, not co-ordinations, but just one co-ordination. Heh.

Take a look at the pink lacquer, Revlon's Parfumerie in Powder Puff.

Applies pretty damn sheer. Had to apply four coats for a full coverage, but it's quick drying. Super glossy though, can skip top coat. Contains fine shimmers on a light pink base. This new range was made to contain individual fragrance per shade, but, um, it's quite strong. As in, you can smell its scent from touching your lips. Has a perfumery floral scent. Don't you go and sniff this straight from the bottle though!!

Now, the glitter!

I've chose Face Of Australia Lookin' For Some Hot Stuff!, from their Glitterati collection. I loveeee the look of this glitter coat over a black base, so I wasn't sure how it'll turn out over a pink base. Contains red, black and white glitter. Didn't think the black would look too nice, but it turned out okay...... I think!

Then of course, the curiousity in me wondered how well it'll look if I turned the manicure to a jelly sandwich. Whipped a coat of Powder Puff over again, but I'm not too sure how I feel about it.... LOL!

A bit messy. I've never tried jelly sandwich manicures, so I'll have to research up extensive guides next time before I try again... HAHA.

What was on your nails this V-tines guys?!

LUSH for Valentine's Day 2014

Never thought I'd get to it this late... but yes! Lush has released new products for Valentine's Day... Thought I'd share these products with you on the blog today! :P

Not a drugstore brand, but Lush isn't always overpriced. Not to mention, their products are cute, and fun to use!

  • Love Locket Bath Bomb ($8.95)
  • Neon Love Soap ($6.95 per 100g)
  • Close To You Massage Bar ($8.95)

  • Prince Charming Shower Gel ($8.95/100g - $16.50/250g - $26.50/500g)
  • Tender Is The Night Massage Bar ($10.50)
  • The Kiss Tinted Lip Balm ($9.95) -- Returning favourite!

They also have gift packs..... I wantttttttttttttt.

  • Heart of Gold ($42.50) - French Kiss bubble bar, The Comforter bubble bar, Rock Star soap 100g, From Dusk til Dawn massage bar, Ro's Argan Body Conditioner 45g.
  • Sexy Fun Times ($18.95) - Tender is the Night massage bar, Pink FUN 200g.
  • Be Mine ($23.50) - Porridge soap, Soft Coeur massage bar, Ro's Argan Body Conditioner 45g.

Oh my lord, the gift packs looks amazing. The packaging is sooo cute. They surely will make excellent gifts for the girlfriends. The individual products are cute too!
I've been meaning to hit up Lush to grab some products I've been looking out for (for yonks!), but I've been feeling so lazy. Can't find any other reasons to go so far, besides the need to grab Lush's Love Lettuce Mask  and maybe have a sniff of their body conditioners/shower gels :(

Has anyone tried or sniffed the Prince Charming shower gel?!

Made up of marshmallow root, vanilla and fresh pomegranate juice.... Sounds super tasty! Oh, re-freshening, I mean... >_<

Drugstore Cosmetics Launches for Australia -- February 2014

Did I tell you that "getting launch posts done on time" was on my "beauty/blogging resolutions" list for the new year? -_-"

Hmph, I promise to work harder next month! I was just sick for the past fewer days.. and I actually still feel horrible as I'm typing away.. T^T

It's not a good start to the month, but these hot, new products did brighten my days quite a bit!

MAYBELLINE

FITme Shine Free Foundation Stick (10 shades/$15.95)
Probably one of the more exciting products by Maybelline this month. I know quite a few people were all eggcited over this on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. It does look very promising though!
This foundation stick offers "breathable coverage and a flawless finish". It's described to be ideal for combination to oily skin types for its anti-shine properties.

Color Sensational Bold Matte Lip Colours ($16.95/5 shades)
New lipstick range of matte finishes. Has a powderless formula (no idea what this means), and is infused with alot of random stuff to keep the lips moisturised... Actually, only a few! Haha.

Color Sensational Nude Lip Colours ($16.95/6 shades)
A new lipstick range with a soft and creamy formula. Same-same as the regular Color Sensational range, I'm assuming.

Color Show Stripped Nudes Collection ($5.95/4 shades)
No photo for this one, because I couldn't find it! It's a new nail collection though, featuring neutral tones.

Color Show Crayon Kohl Liner ($6.95/9 shades)
Such a wide shade range for pencil eyeliners. This eyeliner is described to have a cream-based formula that glides onto the lids with bold colour.

Master Smoky Shadow-Pencil ($14.95/4 shades)
A chubby eye pencil, which reminds me alot of the ones from Rimmel's ScandalEyes range, except that this has the extra smudging tool. The formula for this is described to be rich in pigments, long-wearing and waterproof. Interesting!!! But a bit pricey.

The Colossal Volum' Express Smoky Eyes Mascara ($19.95/1 shade)
Described to be a "kohl pigment mascara". I have no idea what that means. I also have no idea what it's suppose to do, because there's no other information about this other than that. However, knowing Maybelline, it's probably lash "defining, volumising, lengthening" repeated all over again. loool

Eye Studio Big Eyes Light-Catching Palette ($16.95/5 shades)
These palettes feature four colours for priming and defining the eyes. The shadows feature a soft texture and is available in five different shade combinations.

Express Remover ($9.95)
This is like some sort of new and whacky invention. It's an "instant dip-in nail polish remover". The pot features a fitted foam insert, saturated with an acetone-free formula. Think I've seen products like this before, but don't remember seeing them anymore soon after being released. Hahah.. Interesting concept though.

BYS

BYS Lip Colour Stick ($4.95/6 shades)
I THINK these are new, pretty sure they are! Seems like quite a few brands have been pushing to release their own gloss-sticks within the past fewer months.

Foundation Primers ($9.95/4 shades)
If I can remember correctly, these were added last month... This range of primers consist of 4 different types, targeting your different needs. In my opinion, the range (or maybe the packaging, to be specific) looks so tacky. I've always felt a bit iffy about skin products from smaller brands like BYS..... Actually, any products at all. Yes, I'm being a bit biased here.. >_<

REVLON

Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamels ($15.95/24 shades)
Oh my goddddddddddddddddd. The packaging of these are beautiful! So luxe! I love the packaging of these sooooo much. But anyways, described to be your ideal lacquer range, these are supposed to apply smoothly, with a flawless colour and contain irresistible fragrances. I don't care too much about the fragrance to be honest, but the SHADES AND THE PACKAGING LOOKS AMAZING!!!! The price also looks a bit out of this world (read: out of my world).

Age Defying CC Cream ($26.95/3 shades)
A colour correcting cream that targets the first signs of ageing, delivering buildable coverage. It's suppose to fight hyperpigmentation and fine lines, whilst hydrating and smoothing the skin. Contanis SPF30.

Age Defying Firming + Lifting Makeup ($39.95/a few shades)
This ageing foundation provides lifting and firming benefits. Offers flawless coverage, provides a youthful look. Formulated with some fancy things and targets all signs of aging.

Age Defying Targeted Dark Spot Cocnealer Treatment ($26.95/not sure)
A concealer that "expertly" targets and TREATS dark spots. This concealer is formulated with some fancy stuff too.

Age Defying Wrinkle Remedy Line Filler ($26.95)
Similar to a primer. You can wear this alone or under make-up. It features hyaluronic acid that fills deep lines and wrinkles.

COVERGIRL

Flamed Out Mascara ($14.95/2 shades)
Features a volume igniter brush to separate and define each lash. Has a fast setting formula, is smudge-proof and flake resistant.

Flamed Out Shadow Pencils ($9.95/6 shades)
Eye pencils that act as an eyeliner and gel shadow. Glides on the eye smoothly and is available in six shades. More of these cream-based eyeshadow pencils!!

OTHER AWESOME BRANDS!

Rimmel London ScandalEyes Rockin' Curves Mascara ($16.95)
A mascara that features a brush designed to create big, curvy lashes. The applicator twists and curves the hug the lash line, the thin tip elongates and gets to the hard-to-reach lashes, offering volume and curve. The packaging is bright-red and has a printed texture, inspired by Rimmel's ambassador Kate Moss!!!

Yeap, and that's all for this month's launches!!

I do look forward to a few of these products. Priceline is having introductory offers for a few of these newbies! I'm looking up the range of the Covergirl Flamed Out Shadow Pencils right now, hahaha.

Which of these newbies are you eyeing?!

Lunar New Year Inspired Nails

So I've been thinking about Lunar/Chinese New Year Inspired NOTDs for the past fewer days! Finally managed to whip up a quick and simple one, which I think, can be altered by colours to suit alot of events and occasions!

Here it is.....

Quick, simple and easy!

In case you're wondering, I've used gold nail art tapes that I've purchased from eBay yonks ago. You can easily search for them on eBay by "nail art tapes". They cost less than $2 for a pack of 5-8 colours. They're tiny though, so if you're looking to use these more often, I'd suggest to purchase at least 5 sets. Most sellers offer free shipping anyways!

As for the red, I've used Rimmel London's Double Decker Red from the Lasting Finish range.

I'd like to try and whip up more NOTDs for Chinese New Year since I'm flooded with ideas (not really), but I don't think I'll have enough time before CNY hits....

If you don't see me posting, I wish you, your family and loved ones, a happy Chinese New Year. May the Year of the Horse be a great year for you all, in terms of health, luck and fortune!!

Keep safe xx
