Think Pink! -- Australis Color Inject Mineral Lipstick in Honky Tonk

Another lippy that I wanted to share with you today!

If you've read my blog for a looong time now, you would've already know that Australis' Colour Inject Mineral Lipstick in Mambo was one of my very first lipstick love. Besides being a flattering nude shade on my lips, its formula is surely worthy of a mention.



I have quite a few of their Colour Inject Mineral Lipsticks (CIML) in my collection actually! Besides their limited edition shades from a few years back, the rest are mainly pink colours except one red shade. The pinks I own are called Mambo, HonkyT Tonk and Salsa. YES! All named after fab dance styles.

Honky Tonk, was one that I had high hopes for. It swatches to look sooooooooooooo pretty in store, but sad to say, I rarely reach for it. It's a warm-toned, lighter pink which is a pretty pink shade itself! The only problem I have with this is how digustingly yellow it makes my teeth look with its undertones. It's not exactly the colour's fault, but I really wished that this shade worked for me without bringing out all the yellow tones in my teeth. Sigh!

It's such a pretty and cutesy girly-pink @_@

Oh, actually, besides that, due to the bright shade, it also tends to stick around flakes a tad.

(currently trialling out a new foundation, so don't mind me! Q.Q) 

The formula is creaaaaaaaaaamy and if you haven't tried Australis' CIML before, they apply with a tad of a thick (but creamy!) feel. Lasts for a decent amount of time, is decently pigmented and affordably priced!

Argh.. I haven't shopped any Australis Cosmetics products in such a long time. I really need to hit up Priceline when I could find some time! @_@

Think Pink! -- Face Of Australia NEW Carnivale Nail Collection

I'm gonna cheat a bit here... I know Face Of Australia's new Carnivale Nail Collection isn't 100% pink, but there's a pink shade! :P I just can't wait to share my thoughts on these with ya!

The limited edition collection only launched recently, so you should be able to find these at your local Big W, Priceline and other Face Of Australia stockists by now! 

The range consists of 8 shades, 4 of which are supposed to be reminiscent of the summer sunset sky, and the other four [glittering] shades are inspired by "elaborate masks worn during the great Carnivales of Europe"!

This collection really did caught me by surprise! I never expected any drugstore brands to have a go at sandy-textured lacquers so soon (besides Sally Hansen, I guess), so I skipped the press release that was attached and gave these a go without knowing what to really expect. 

They dry to a matte finish, with a sandy-texture, like OPI's Liquid Sand lacquers. If you haven't tried any similar sandy-textured varnishes before, they apply just like any other regular varnishes, but dries to a gritty, matte texture. Careful though, they are surely hard to remove!

To cheat that 15-20 minutes of your life that you'd be spending to remove these gritty lacquers, check out my post on DIY Peel Off Base Coat. It's what I always use for stubborn glittery nail polishes, or when I'm doing some mass-swatching! ;)

Bird Of Paradise is a summery, light pink. It has that sweet tint of coral to it, which makes it perfect for Spring and Summer! A bit irrelevant, but I think it'd also make an absolutely amazing lip colour.. x_x 

Mango Slurpee, a bright, creme orange, which reminds me much of rockmelons! Quite flattering on the nails, methinks! Such a cute colour to have in this sandy-texture!

Between The Flags is one of the four glittering shades. It's a red colour with a golden sheen. Reminds me much of Rimmel London's varnish in Hot Rock, but the golden sheen of Between The Flags isn't really visible when applied. A tad bummed about that..... A tad only~

Ferris Wheel is another one of the four glittering shades. This one contains additional [reflective] silver glitters, so even with the matte finish, it still sparkles like crazy! Looks amaaaaaaazing on the nails! Reminds me of their Let's Go Scuba Diving lacquer from their previous Barbados collection, but much more oomph'ed up.

That's all for the four shades. I'm in the process of saving up for my holiday trip at the moment, so let me share with you my plan of attack:

Think Pink! -- Models Prefer Gloss Stick in Marshmallow

Ahhhh, I've promised to do a swatch post of this range some time ago, but I still haven't got to it! Sorry for those who have been waiting! I'll work on the other shades in another post, but for now, let's think and talk pink!

Besides Max Factor's Giant Pen Sticks, I've never really laid an eye on any other gloss sticks. I've tried Face Of Australia's previously, and I can't say that I'm impressed, so since, I've never really looked into gloss sticks. Even those Showstopper Gloss Sticks by my favourite brand, Australis!

The only thing that made me purchased these Models Prefer Gloss Sticks were its cheap price tag... I've purchased them at my local flea markets for $2 each! I have a few more shades, but like I said, let's only yap yap about this bright pink shade!

Marshmallow IS a bright pink shade. Almost barbie bright. It's not exactly a shade I wouldn't wear, but in all honesty, it's not the most flattering shade of pink for me.

The formula also makes it a tad more high maintenance. It has a thin and velvety consistency, and is less creamy in terms of texture. It applies on like a thin layer of glossy-colour that just sits on top and doesn't really settle. The only problem with it "just sitting there" is that, it becomes more transferable that way and once transferred away, it doesn't really leave any colours behind on the lips.



As for the shade, because it's so bright, exfoliating is a NECESSARY step! Wearing this with chapped and flaky lips... Oh, I'm sure you can imagine! The colour WILL gather around any flakes on the lips, which is NOT a pretty look! @_@ Therefore, either non-chapped and exfoliated lips or nil!

On the brighter side, this wears quite well. Wears nicely until 2-3 hours later, or until you eat or drink. As I've mentioned, it's not very transfer resistant!

So although I'm not overly impressed with the formula (I hate slippery lip products), I'm still looking forward to the other shades that I own from this range! I have a darker berry/plum colour sitting around, which I'm keen to try.

Anyways, the last time I visited my local Priceline, I saw these on sale so they MAY have be discontinued. Check your local Priceline if you'd like to give these a go though!

Think Pink! -- Favourite Pink Gradient Lips

Gradient lips has always been around for a while now, and since its debut in the beauty community, it's always been one of my favourite ways to wear lippies!

Not only because it actually looks nice, but being able to use two lip colours at a time just makes me feel as I'm not neglecting too many from the stash! Hehehe.



My favourite way to sport a gradient lip is by going pink. I've seen some people go 100% nude/beige lips with a bold red colour bleeding from the center, but that look is just a little too bold for my everyday, so here's my take:

I've used Max Factor's Colour Elixir Giant Pen Sticks in Couture Blush and Passionate Red. Gotta say that since their addition to my collection, they've been my favourite to use! Prior to that, my favourite combo was with Sportsgirl's nude lipstick in "All About You" and "Juicy Watermelon".

Both shades are great to wear alone on the lips, not to mention their formula is fantastic too! I've previously reviewed them here (with individual swatches), if you're a curious peanut.

Leaning pink like this just looks much nicer in my (very own!) opinion. It's still a gradient lip, but having pink as a base just makes it much more subtle for everyday-wear.

Have been sporting this look for a while now actually, and will probably continue to do so for the rest of Spring! Also need to buy back-ups for Couture Blush for my upcoming holiday trip to Vietnam, because I'm almost done with this one!

Mentioned them so many times before.. *expects everyone to have already tried these*... Hahaha! Just kidding! x)

But seriously, if you haven't tried these.. make sure to do so! I really love them and have always highly recommended them. They are also only $10 each, or even cheaper if you catch em' on sale!

Think Pink! -- Savvy By DB Blusher in Silky Pink

FINALLY a blushers post! And I mean... Finally a blushers post for this Think Pink! project AND for my blog. I really can't remember the last time I've reviewed a blusher.

This blusher, Savvy by DB's Blusher in Silky Pink, I've had it in my collection for a while now. I've hoarded it home from Priceline's 40% OFF sale which happened a while ago, so if I could remember correctly... this costed a mere $3.


I also really wanted their Baked Blushers, but they were a tad more expensive (I was on a budget then okay?!?!), so I've settled with this instead.

Their classic blushers are packaged in a simple plastic packaging. It feels sturdy enough to last, but also feels like one drop is enough to break. It has a see-through cover, which ultimately calls for easier navigation in your stash of ten thousand blushers. Ha!

The blusher itself, is decently pigmented. You won't find yourself needing to sit and swirl your brush forever, a slight second of a swirl is enough! You also won't find any fall outs, so don't fret!

My main concern with this blusher is its long-lasting power. It lasts for a fair amount of time.. 4-5 hours before I saw the colour fading on me. There's still that little bit of colour, but it just didn't look as vibrant as how I've applied it at first.

The colour, I don't mind it. It's a cute, medium warm-toned rose-pink with a luminous sheen. When swatched, the sheen stands to be very visible, but when applied, you can barely see it. I wished that the sheen stood to be as visible as it does when swatched, but this isn't much of a problem since I could easily top it off with my kick-ass The Balm Mary-Louminizer! Omgggaaah, I need to post about that soon, please stay tuned!

But anyways, overall, it's surely a nice blush to have in the stash. Pretty affordable, and good in quality, so I don't see what's the problem! Also great if you're just starting out with make-up. You can easily find SAvvy By DB's range at Priceline ^~^

Think Pink! -- OPI Nail Lacquer in Japanese Rose Garden

More pink lacquers!!

Japanese Rose Garden is a new addition to my collection only of recently. A family friend has gifted it to me along with 5 other lacquers which I'm hoping to swatch them all soon! Anyways, at first, I wasn't really fond of this pink colour. The colour is just looks too dull, not really my cuppa tea.

But oh my godddddddddd, it makes the prettiest dusty pink on the nails. I'd like to say that the smooth formula is also a contributing factor to as how amazing it looks on the nails.

The colour is a warm-toned dusty pink, with very slight shimmers that you could only see at a closer look. The formula applies amazingly smooth with an amazing glossy finish. Just simply amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing! 

It's also quite pigmented, so 2-3 coats was enough for an opaque finish. In these photos, I've applied 3 average coats!

Yoshhhhh! It looks exactly like this in real life. This glossy, this smooth and the shade looks just like it does in the photos. So so so so so so pretty and is such a nice touch away from the usual bright and bold pink colours that I usually sport.

Can you recommend me any other similar pink shades to this?

Think Pink! -- Cedel Blow Dry Faster Heat Protector

Pink products aren't only limited to cosmetics, right? As you could tell, pink packaging counts too! x)

Not sure if you've ever heard of this product before, but I personally haven't seen it featured in too many other beauty blogs.




I've used this fast-drying heat protector for a while now, but just never thought about featuring it on the blog. Now seems like the perfect timing though!

Besides being a heat protector for when you're blow drying, it's also suppose to reduce the time it takes. Cedel describes that "unique formulation contains silk protein to help protect hair against heart, leaving your hair looking and feeling smooth and super shiny".

It's packaged in a hot pink spritz packaging that gives you that perfect spray of mists for your hair. Not too much, not too less, just enough.

Now... my hair is EXTREMELY thick, so before discovering this product, I'd just skip blow drying altogether, followed with a "nevermind!" sigh. However, after having this product laying around for yonks, I've decided to whip it out and FINALLY give it a go.

I'm happy to say that I'm actually quite impressed with this! The fact that it DOES actually save me a noticeable amount of time when blow drying is what makes me the happiest. I honestly don't find that it makes my hair look any shinier though. But it does make it feel extremely smooooooooth and soft.... like um..................... like a puppy? @_@

Overall, I'd highly recommend this product if you're looking for one that helps to reduce your blow-drying time. Adding to that, it also works as a heat protector, and is extremely affordable for a decent-sized bottle that will last you a yonks!
