Storing make-up in the fridge?

Hey beautifools! Waddup.

I instagramed a photo today on "storing all my lipsticks, cream blushers and lotions in the fridge" and a friend asked, "Make-up in the fridge?!!?".

I'm sure many of you guys are aware that most skincare products should be stored in a cool place under 30 degrees.. so why not the fridge?!

Skincare products -- I love storing my face masks and moisturisers in the fridge so it'll feel fresh and cool when applied in the morning! Not to mention that it also keeps the consistency of my cream moisturisers nicely thick.. I've also heard that cool-temp'ed eye creams can reduce swelling and puffiness.

Right so that's for skincare products, but no one ever said that make-up can't be stored in a cool place? So in it goes too!

Lipsticks -- are cream based, so it is 100% possible for them to melt in hot and humid temperatures. Keeping them in the fridge will keep them cool and solid.

Cream blushers -- are cream based, so they're also prone to melting also.

Cream foundations or face products of thicker consistencies -- Like my Palmer's BB Cream. I whipped it out today and the consistency changed to be much more liquid-y... so in the fridge it goes!

Eyeliners/lip liners -- Leaving eyelining and lip lining pencils in the hot and humid can surely cause them to melt to a soft texture.. so leave them in the fridge for a 3-5 minutes prior to sharpening/using!

Now.. to the downfalls.. be careful that all your products are sealed unless you want lipsticks with a specialized durian (or fish or whatever you have in your fridge) scent! Oh god...

Anyways, that's all from me for now... but now it's your turn to share!

Do YOU store your make-up in the fridge? Would you?
Why/why not?

  1. I bet my makeup is going to melt tomorrow - 37*C what??!!! Too bad my fridge is always full and sometimes my family eats durian.. the scent got mixed with macarons before and I felt so annoyed that my family wasted a full box of macarons... of course they don't mind but I do!

  4. I only store my make-up in the fridge when it's summer! At the moment it's so cold here I would never dare to apply make-up if it would be that cold xD

  5. I put my face mists in the fridge (rose & lavender face mists) just so I can spray it chilled on my face.
I'd put my lippies in there but nothing like eyeliners. Wouldn't they dry out?

    1. Hi Reese!! Welcome to my blog! ^_^ I meant leave them in the fridge for a while before using/sharpening them*** Fixing it right away! I'm not sure on if they'd dry out or not though... Hmm!

  6. That sounds like a good idea, though the fridge is full as recently we decided to have all the flours/rice/pasta/sugars in there, since we started finding bugs in them!

Just checked, everything in the bathroom's fine, except the lip crayons which are slightly softer than usual. Meanwhile on the other side of the house, we have Lush soap going funny... it seems the oils are melting in their wax paper.

    1. Oh yes! Lush products should be kept in a cool, dry place. I really think the fridge would preserve it so it'll last longer! Perhaps, you could give it a try? X

  7. I do this!! LOL. I put all my lip products in the egg rack, then squeeze in the foundations and other creamy makeup in other racks. The fridge preserves my makeup like no other.

  8. I definitely store my face masks in the fridge! My mom keeps her toner in there as well- it's apparently very refreshing d: I might think about putting lip products in there as well! a lot of mine have melted due to the heat in the summer! D:

    1. Aw Angie! Go ahead! I just checked a few more of the buttery lip products today and they've gone so soft (after taking them out and forgetting to put it back in)... Meep!

  9. I have not thought of storing makeup in the fridge. I probably will not use the products if I end up putting them in the fridge since I think I'll be too lazy to walk to the kitchen to get them. LOL.
