Revlon Parfumerie Nail Enamel in Wintermint

OH MY GOD. I've had these photos taken for forever now, but never remembered to post about them. Yeah, this happens way too often.... that's why there are folders and folders of raw images stuck on my desktop.

Sigh!

My sister purchased these polishes by Revlon lately, from the new Parfumerie range! Yes, they are scented. Individually scented.

Wintermint is a pretty.... mmmhm... Should I say "pearly" or "frosty"? Not sure. It seems to be neither, nor is it shimmery. The finish is very strange (as you could see in the swatches below). It looks sandy like those sandy-textured lacquers, with a bit of a metallic-base sheen.

Yes! It's a light-mint based polish, with small blue glitters and reflective micro-glitters.

Okay, now the SCENT!

If you like or don't mind scented nail polishes, you won't have a problem with this. However, if you're like me, one who can't really stand scented nail polishes, then... these are probably not for you to play with. The scent is not faint. Adding to that, they are also rather pricey so in my opinion, I don't think it's worth paying $16.95 for one-time use if you can't stand the scent. Do consider this, before any purchases!

Back to Wintermint though..

Does it have a minty-scent?! YES!
Do I like it? NO!

Why? Umm.... The scent is rather strange, it's minty, but I can still smell the chemical spice. The mix of both scents makes me want to puke a bit every single time I touch my nose, ESPECIALLY when I'm applying my face creams! God!!!

In all, yeah, I can't really stand scented nail polishes. However, Wintermint is one of a kind. It's nothing you can find from any other ranges from other brands, so.... Yes!

+1 for the colour!
-2 for the scent!

Jokes.

Have you tried Revlon's Parfumerie Nail Enamel range?!

By the way, after looking back at this colour, I've realised that it matches the colour theme of my blog a lot! Hahaha!

Revlon Parfumerie Nail Enamel, $16.95, available in 24 shades, at Priceline, Big W and other Revlon stockists.

NOTD: Valentine's Day ft. Revlon & Face Of Australia

Hey u, yeah u.

Sharing with you my thoughts on Revlon's Parfumerie Nail Polish today! My sister purchased them recently, but I've yet to post about the haul (yeah, my sister purchased it, but I shall include it was my haul -- makes sense, right?). ^_^?!

For V-tines this year, I've decided to stay away from the fancy nail art. Feeling a bit ceebs, and I've came to realise that nail art + Tram just doesn't go well together. Haaaaaaaaa.

So I've decided to go for colour and glitter co-ordinations instead. Well, not co-ordinations, but just one co-ordination. Heh.

Take a look at the pink lacquer, Revlon's Parfumerie in Powder Puff.

Applies pretty damn sheer. Had to apply four coats for a full coverage, but it's quick drying. Super glossy though, can skip top coat. Contains fine shimmers on a light pink base. This new range was made to contain individual fragrance per shade, but, um, it's quite strong. As in, you can smell its scent from touching your lips. Has a perfumery floral scent. Don't you go and sniff this straight from the bottle though!!

Now, the glitter!

I've chose Face Of Australia Lookin' For Some Hot Stuff!, from their Glitterati collection. I loveeee the look of this glitter coat over a black base, so I wasn't sure how it'll turn out over a pink base. Contains red, black and white glitter. Didn't think the black would look too nice, but it turned out okay...... I think!

Then of course, the curiousity in me wondered how well it'll look if I turned the manicure to a jelly sandwich. Whipped a coat of Powder Puff over again, but I'm not too sure how I feel about it.... LOL!

A bit messy. I've never tried jelly sandwich manicures, so I'll have to research up extensive guides next time before I try again... HAHA.

What was on your nails this V-tines guys?!

Lunar New Year Inspired Nails

So I've been thinking about Lunar/Chinese New Year Inspired NOTDs for the past fewer days! Finally managed to whip up a quick and simple one, which I think, can be altered by colours to suit alot of events and occasions!

Here it is.....

Quick, simple and easy!

In case you're wondering, I've used gold nail art tapes that I've purchased from eBay yonks ago. You can easily search for them on eBay by "nail art tapes". They cost less than $2 for a pack of 5-8 colours. They're tiny though, so if you're looking to use these more often, I'd suggest to purchase at least 5 sets. Most sellers offer free shipping anyways!

As for the red, I've used Rimmel London's Double Decker Red from the Lasting Finish range.

I'd like to try and whip up more NOTDs for Chinese New Year since I'm flooded with ideas (not really), but I don't think I'll have enough time before CNY hits....

If you don't see me posting, I wish you, your family and loved ones, a happy Chinese New Year. May the Year of the Horse be a great year for you all, in terms of health, luck and fortune!!

Keep safe xx

Pigments Nail Art: The Dark Version ft. Eclipse & Bella Pierre

CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT IT'S ALREADY HALF WAY THROUGH THE MONTH OF JUNE?

Ya. I also cannot believe it, because it hasn't been too long ago that I've posted my "Drugstore Launches" for the month of June, and next thing you know... BAM! I need to start compiling info and photos for Drugstore Launches for the month of July. Eeeek.

Time flies when you're older, methinks.

Anyways, in my previous "pigments nail art" project, I promised that I'll also show you my dark version! I'll be showing you that today, but if you're unfamiliar with the idea... In a nutshell, it's a simple nail art method using eyeshow pigments. You start off with a base colour, apply a clear top coat once the base dries and then sprinkle on loose pigments!

This was my "light" version using Models Prefer' pigments...

AND, here is my dark version using Bella Pierre's pigment stack.

Yes... if you're familiar with Bella Pierre cosmetics, their shimmer pigments stack actually retails for $99.95 on their website.. But lucky me, I've thrifted it at the markets for only $1-$2! The colours it features are beautiful and rich. I've been wanting to bring it into some sort of use, besides using it for the eyes. This was the perfect chance!

As for the base, I've used Eclipse #219 흑 장 미. I have absolutely NO idea what its name is, but a quick google tells me that "흑" translates to "black", and "장 미" translates to "chapters"... which makes absolutely NO sense.

Further research for this blog (and just for the fun of it)... Googling images for "장 미" gives photos of roses, and the whole phrase together "흑 장 미" gives me photos of black roses! Therefore, may I conclude that the name of this polish is called "Black Roses"? Yes. Absolutely.. LOL.

Ok. That's it for today's Korean 101 class. Our next class will be held when another Eclipse nail polish is featured.

Black Roses is a very, very dark (non-plummy!) red that looks very much like black at a glimpse. The lacquer applied flawlessly as every other Eclipse Nail Polish. Pigmented, non-streaky, non-gloopy, smooth -- everything you can ask for! But as always, it also chipped after a day or so.. >_<"

I really like the gold and the reddish-purple colour that I've used. I can definitely imagine the gold pigments on a bright red for Chinese New Year inspired nails, what do you say?!

Have you got around to trying Pigment Nails yet?!?!

Also, I will continueing my my series of Saturday's Swatches starting from next Saturday for those who are wondering! I've ran out of products to swatch... eeep! Need to hit up Priceline or Big W to swatch & run, methinks!

NOTD: Eyeshadow Pigments Nail Art/Manicure

Helllllooooooo. Finally back!

I was hoping to hit back with a review of Max Factor's Color Elixir Giant Pen Sticks, but I can't open the photos to edit right now, so I thought I'd share with you this new "pigments" nail art idea that I've found from Bec's (@nailgunxs) Instagram account. The link to the pigments nail tutorial is here.

Nooooooooooo.. I'm not talking about DIY Nail Polishes here.. The idea of 'pigment nails' is to basically apply a base colour, whip on a top coat and [spontaneously] sprinkle on some eyeshadow pigments and then leave to dry.

If you've clicked the link to Bec's post, you would've seen two versions of her 'Pigment Nails' manicure. With inspiration, I've also attempted both the light and dark versions!

For the light version, I've used Ozotic Pro's white nail polish as a base colour, along with two old eyeshadow pigments by Models Prefer. My sister had these loose pigments in her collection for a while now and she was actually contemplating to chuck them out. Lucky she didn't, because I actually don't own too many loose eyeshadow pigments myself!

This manicure was really easy and fun to do! I wished that big green blob on my middle finger didn't happen though... There's no going back guys, so be careful if you're going to attempt this! ~.~

For those wondering whether the pigmentation of the loose pigments matters or not... I'd say it DOES play a role. I've swatched these loose pigments and frankly, they're not the most pigmented. Therefore, when I used the pigments, I had to go over with several layers

It wholely depends on you, I guess -- whether you like the colours dull and faded or bright and intense. On my thumb, I only did one layer and I do like how subtle it looks! ^_^!

As for my dark version.............................................................................

Highlight here ------> I'll show you soon in an upcoming post!

Which base colour would YOU use?
Which colour pigments would pair with that base colour?

If you DO decide to try these 'pigment nails' (or you already have), leave us your link below! Alternatively, you could also tweet me, tag me on Instragram (@the_beautifool) or post it on my Facebook page! ^_^

Australis' Blue Tiger ft. Shimmy Shake!

Hi! I thought I'd pop into ze blog today to share with you my NOTD! I've been obsessed with glitters on accent nails lately. Mainly because they don't look too overwhelming on the nails AND I probably would kill myself if I had to sit and remove glitters from all 10 nails. Having them on my accent nails to remove is bad enough, thanks.

Another day, another Australis feature on ze blog.... I blog about Australis WAY too muchhhhhh.

I'm sporting Blue Tiger on ma nails today! It's a bright medium blue which screams "BAM! Look at me ho"... just kidding! I was quite strucked by its semi-matte finish, but I quite like it for this colour! If you're not a matte-lover, there's nothing a top coat can't fix  :P

As for the formula, it applied beautifully. I never used to be a fan of Australis' nail lacquers, but I'm starting to convert. I remember the fewer first shades I tried by Australis were disgusting. Eeeeep. Thank Lord they've improved it, or it'll be a shame for they have some of the prettiest shades!

I've paired Blue Tiger with Shimmy Shake, a sliver glitter top coat which was also fantastic in terms of quality! I didn't think I'd like it that much, but I loveeee how it looks on the nails! Almost like leftover silver specks, yes?!

As much as I do love glitters, I think it's time to take a break from them. I'm kinda sick of them when it comes to removal (aren't we all?)... On a side note, take a look at my Australis' nail polish collection!!

Yes, I am quite a collector! *ahem* Hoarder, more like it. *ahem*

What are your FAVOURITE blue nail polishes?!

Please share with me some of your favourite blues! I've been quite liking blue nail polishes latelyy. I've never really noticed how gorgeous they are until I've started using these candy blue colours.

Australis Nail Colours are $7.95 each. Available at Priceline, Target, Big W and K-Mart.

NOTD: Rubi Under The Seaport ft. Australis Eureka

Hey there beautifools. Sorry I didn't get up to any postings yesterday! Usually, I'd have posts lined up and scheduled, but I've ran out of my "back up" posts :(

I spent ALL day yesterday working on my assessment, being angry at my sister, being sick and catching up on some homework. I haven't worked on any posts for this week yet, but if you see me skipping posts, then I'm super sorry -- still trying to get the hang of uni + blogging.

Before when I studied at TAFE, I had heaps of spare time on my hands so I never really took the time to trial nail polishes (since I'd change them every fewer days), but now that I have so many things to do.. it's the perfect time to trial nail polishes!!! Woop!

This week, my nails are very Australian -- with both brands used being of Australian brands.

Yes!! Rubi nail polishes! Did you know that Rubi had their very own line of nail lacquers?

This is Under The Seaport, a very dark teal colour, methinks. My mum argues that this is "navy" colour, but it's more like.. it could be a "navy" version of green? Anyhows, whatever it is, I really like the look of it on my nails! The formula is also perfectly pigmented and smooth, except that it chipped after a day of wear *cries

I hate how some nail polish brands with the most fantastic pigmentation and formula turns their own products into duds just because of the long-lasting power. If they tried harder, their products could seriously live up to those of the higher-end brands! Looking at you, Rubi and Eclipse!

Anyhows, I've been into glitter accents lately, so I've paired Under The Seaport with Australis' Glitter Top Coat in Eureka, and here's the finished look:

Oh, how I love glitters! I seriously don't think I can ever wear creme colours on its own ever again!

Have you tried Rubi nail lacquers?
How do you wear your glitter top coats?

I still have another Rubi nail lacquer to try and I have a feeling it's going to be just the same as this one -- perfect pigmentation and formula, but chips after a day wear... Meep.

Disclaimer: Both products were purchased by me.

NOTD: Sportsgirl's Hello Sunshine & Chi Chi's Glitter

Hi. I don't think I've posted about my NOTD in yonks! Oh. Wait. I've posted about Max Factor's Fantasy Fire not too long ago! Woooooooooops. Totally forgot >_<

So as I've mentioned in my previous nail post, I'm trying to clear out my nail polishes at the moment so I've been trying to wear ALL the nail polishes [that I'm not keen on keeping] at least once so I could review/swatch them on blog.

I've previously gone through my Rimmel London stash, cutting from 9 nail polishes down to 3. My next stop is my Sportsgirl's collection! I actually have quite a few that I don't intend to keep back and one of them is 'Hello Sunshine', a bright yellow (duh!).

Yes! I've paired it with a glitter top coat from Chi Chi. I've used the purple glitter top coat (from the same collection) before and it was disgustingly gloopy and thick. I really thought this one was going to be the same, but it's much thinner! Thank Buddha!

Chi Chi's glitter top coat contains tiny green rounds with small yellow, green and blue hex glitters! If the lighter blue was any darker, then it would probably be my go-to glitter top coat for Australia Day LOL.

Like I said, its consistency is thin which is awesome for layering! I didn't have any problems with this one, but I DID have so many problems with Sportsgirl's Hello Sunshine. Like any other yellow nail polishes (still haven't found the perfect one!), it's sheer and is so annoyingly streaky. I had to layer 5 medium coats for a full and even coverage!

Wa. As you could see, the yellow is still somewhat uneven!!! Meep.

On the plus side, its lasting power is GREAT. With 5 thick coats, it's still going good with 5 days of wear with very, very minor tip wear! However, the colour isn't really my thing so sad to say, but bye bye to this one.

Have you found the PERFECT yellow yet?
Which was by far the worst/best yellow nail polish you've tried?

I've tried Australis' Rub-A-Dub-Dub, Face Of Australia's Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy and Rimmel's Lemon Drop. The worst of the bunch is probably Face Of Australia's Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy, for me.

NOTD: Polka Pink and Coral by B Collection Nail Polishes

Hi hi!! This is gonna be a quick post! I swear I'm not being lazy but there's only a few decent snaps from when I had these nails on!

I whipped out my favourite B Collection shade 'Vancouver' and another shade that I've had in the collection for a while, 'Santorini'.

Santorini, Vancouver

'Vancouver' is a soft pink and is my favourite pedicure shade. I'm not very comfortable with wearing bright and bold colours on my toes so I always paint it any soft and 'not so loud'. However, for this Summer, I've got heaps tanned so 'Vancouver' just makes me my feet look... dirty. Yeap. Dirty. Maybe because it makes my feet looks so much more tanned!

So I decided to try something new... I picked up 'Santorini' which I've also had my eye on. It's such a pretty coral in the bottle, but I've somehow forgot about it until I was 're-analysing' my nail collection.

Next thing ya know, it looks fab on my toes. LOL. No joke! It brightens and really gives a cute, poppy feel which I really like! I'd have to say that these two are most likely the only two nail polishes that I'd ever wear on my toes.

Anyways, enough about toes and feet.

I stumbled across a simple, yet cute nail art manicure the other day (I really can't remember where I saw it from) but it was so simple and easy that I'd have to give it go!

Pretty much just dots on opposite colours! The photo I saw used a beige colour on black, which looked way more sophisticated and prettier than my dodgy take, but hey! I gave it a go.. We all know I was never ever good with nail arts anyways!

I don't think you can find B Collection nail polishes anymore.. they were exclusively available to Target but I think the line may be discontinued now.. Hmm. Their formulas are decent, but not worth their original $14.95 price tag. However I highly recommend these two shades if you do find them on clearance!

BYS Nail Enamel in Pretty As A Peach Review

Sorry my international readers! I know I've been blogging about Aussie brands so much, but let me just end the line of Aussie post by showing you my Nails of Tues-Day, or NOTD #heh

BYS (Be Yourself) is an Australian-based brand which I've tried in the past, but have never really been impressed with their products. My first product was their eyeliner which was great for achieving the raccoon-eyes look, although it was cheap and pigmented.

And despite how gorgeous, pretty and springy today's polish is... I am still not impressed!

Pretty As A Peach is a beautiful peachy-orange colour which in some lighting, may look a tad pinker. Reminds me of my Sportsgirl's Pout About It Lipstick in Fruity Tingle, actually.

The shade looks super bright on my dark hands, however, I still love how cheery it is!

I'm not happy with the formula though. It's streaky, sheer and applied quite uneven. I actually struggled to work with this one...

Maybe it's the formula, maybe this polish was just a bad one.

Have you tried any polishes by BYS?

I've seen swatches from many beauty bloggers and they look fine!
Maybe this one is just a bad one?

Australis Nail Colour in Rub-a-dub-dub Photos, Swatches & Review

Australis nail polishes! I have tried some of their nail polishes in the past, both their normal and Paint The Town range.. I was never impressed with the formula although the shades and names are the cutest!

Rub-a-dub-dub (such a cute name!) is a true, pale yellow colour of a creme finish. Very cute and summery/springy shade which will brighten up any gloomy Autumn day! Love this colour!

Although this shade didn't apply streaky and gloopy, I can't seem to work the brush for a flawless application. The bristles of this brush is not as soft as other nail polishes I own, so as I lay the brush on my cuticles, there will always be that 'brush mark/dent' which altogether makes me look like a nail polish noob. Hopefully, you'll understand what I mean!

So since the brush doesn't really work for me, I always end up painting on three thick coats which chips off quicker after around approx 1-2 days, but on average, should be fine for up to 3-4 days. Nothing so extraordinary about drying time and lasting power, to be honest!

I like the shade though! Definitely a shade that I'm looking forward to pair with greys in manicures or other pastel shades! It's a colour which will brighten up the days of the upcoming cold and gloomy season in Aussie here!

What's a nail polish colour that will brighten up YOUR day?
Also, have you tried Australis Nail Colours?
