7 Things about Melbourne from a Sydney-sider

Hello. Yes, I've been MIA for the past fewer days if you had not realised (boo on you!). I've packed and headed to Melbourne along with 3 of my highschool girlfriends. It's a trip we've been postponing for a few years now. So.... FINALLY!

It was my FIRST time being interstate (yay!), and guess what Melbourne-rs?!

I REALLY REALLY LOVE YOUR CITY.

No joke.

Let me tell you about my experience in Melbourne doe.

1. Going to Melbourne and your name is Tram.
Unlike Sydney, tram lines are everywhere in Melbourne! Oh god, on my first day there... you have NO idea how many times I've turned around to my friends saying "tram's here", and on the second day, you have NO idea how many times I did NOT turn when they're calling me. #confused

Here's some tram-on-tram action for y'all...

SNIPPET STORY: In highschool, whenever I answered a question correctly, my English teacher would always say, "Tram's on the right track today!". Hahahhaa #punny!

Anyways, your tram-lines are freaking awesome! If you think it's shit, then don't ever come to Sydney. Late and slow buses everywhere. Only a few trams around too.

2. Streets are freaking big.
Yeah, driving streets. Probably, because tram-lines are everywhere, but still! Even the pathway in the CBD are a lot bigger than here in Sydney. Actually, stores, shops, everything! Everything is so big!

3. Transports are bloody cheap.
YES. Your Myki system is so hard to follow with my memory of a goldfish... I always forget to tap off, but yeah, I know. Most people don't even tap on. Still so cheap though. You have a daily cap price! If I lived there, I would probably ponder everywhere.. hahaha.

4. BIKE LANES!
OMG. I LOVED the sight of seeing people bike around in Melbourne! People in business suits too. I love that Melbourne had their own bike lanes on most (?) roads. I'd LOVE to bike around!

5. Hook turns... wtf.
As much as I love Melbourne, the street layouts are so confusing. Hook turns... Will never drive around in Melbourne... Srsly >_<

6. Crispy chicken rice
Crispy chicken rice with no nuoc mam......... wtf. On my first day, I've dropped by a Vietnamese cuisine to feed. In Sydney, these dishes are served with nuoc mam. It'd look something like this..

But my rice was served with sweet-chilli sauce. Is that normal?! I don't think any soup was served with my dish either. Let me know if this was right Melbourne-folks.

7. McDonald's being named Maccas.
As I stepped out of the train station, I spotted McDonalds. Umm... They were also called "Macca's"... No biggie, but it was definitely strange! I've never seen this in Sydney, I don't think...

That's it. Odd number, but I could only think of 7 things... hehe.

Overall, I really like Melbourne! Fingers crossed I'll be back there soon to meet with some other friends.

Catching up with the galz!

Hello everyone! Holidays has started 3-4 days ago and so far, I've been going out every single day!

Hahahah! On Monday, I went to City to karaoke with acquaintances and then decided that on Wednesday, my close girl group will go for a karaoke session too after visiting our school and eating at a Korean place [Seoulria, I think].

Was feeeling soo sick on the train but everything got much better after food. I think it's because the day before, I only had one meal in the afternoon!! :{

I finished school last year in September and I'm happy to still have these girlfriends around! Though I reckon we should shop more, catch up more often and karaoke more... though Wednesday 3-hours karaoke session was so hectic!

Me feeling sick.... BUT STILL TRYING TO LOOK PRETTY! Teehee!

Getting snuggly! Hehe!

Lmao singing 'Meet Me Halfway'.. if you could see "Moment 4 Life" [by Nicki Minaj] is next on the list HAHAHA!! Challenging myself to sing 'Moment 4 Life'... umm... REALLY?

What was I thinking! *sigh*

My make-up on the day...

Recently, I have been rocking double-eyelid tapes! I love how the eyelids look fake and VERY obvious! It also accentuates my clean eyelining application too hahaha...

That's all for today hunnies! I shall be back tomorrow with a giveaway for Sydney residents so please stay tuned!

Introduction to Showface

I'm sure almost all of Sydney make-up freaks has never heard of Showface before and it's a shame because they sell the most amazing eyeshadows!

Getting to it, Showface is a Sydney-store located at The Rocks and they stock a variety of make-up brands which you will struggle to find in regular stores such as Priceline or Myers, or even DJs.

They stock a variety of Kryolan products including their special-stage make up such as blood-products and tear lipsticks [for acting performances]; Temptu specialising in air-brushing make up (yes! The make-up sprays that you see professional make-up artists using!); La Femme which is a brand very rarely seen around in Australia (the brand I heard NP repackages from or shares the same manufacture with); Paris Berlin Masquillage Pro.; Masquerade and a bunch of other brands which includes their very own line, Showface.

Showface started off selling make-up to professional make-up artists ONLY, however, their products are now free-for-all to buy and they have, must I say, extremely pigmented eyeshadows! To be honest, the pigmentation they sell in store differs so much to the ones we have in our kit... Boo!

A closer look:

What I found cute was that they also had the single eyeshadow packaging.. similar to MAC!

Swatches of my two favourite colours!

Isn't it amazing?

The store also sold make-up books by Rae Morris and Kevyn Aucoin!

The store owner's husband who specializes in the special effects make-up section told us that Rae Morris actually worked at the store, teaching here before she got famous for her make-up artistry and they couldn't afford her anymore... Ah... I'm inspired +_+"

Here's a make-up look that she did and earned herself big bucks (I think he said $15,000).

Here's the Temptu shelf with all their tiny bottles for airbrushing:

Paris Berlin and their lash collection! Grrr I want all!

I'd love to own the bottom one. It looks so pretty! I can't imagine what it'll look like on person!! :D

To be honest.. the glitter eyeliners look like something we could grab from the Asian stores.. They were definitely not that appealing.. to me. But never judge a book by its cover, I guess! :3

Here are lipsticks by Bodyography [I believe]:

And here are the Kryolan lippies!

The interesting colours are located on the second rack which I don't know if you could see, but there's a blue and a gold which I find quite interesting!!

My friend grabbed the gold lippie for our 'Catwalk' photoshoot which is part of our assessment at TAFE, so I decided to take a few pictures for you galz!

I think she absolutely pulls off the gold lippie! You?

Anyways, here's what I bought from the store on that excursion:

  • La Femme Cake Eyeliner Sealer: This sealer is used to seal cake eyeliner, no doubt... for smudge-free properties and all that good stuff. Teacher told me it can also be used to mix with other eyeshadows to create a coloured-eyeliner. However, if you DO do that, do it on a corner or a side and remember you can't use it as a shadow anymore because the sealer has changed its properties!
  • La Femme Cake Eyeliner: You know, I've been loving cake eyeliner and this was only for $10.45, so I definitely had to pick it up! I've heard great reviews about this too!
  • Art Basics Angular Brush: This may the smallest and tiniest angled-brush you'll ever come across! I will be using it as it could reach into the corners of my small eyelids and creating a thinner line at the same time :) This brush was $4! Yay!

That's all! Hope you galz have a good day! I'm off to the markets!

A yellow bracelet which says Bubz and two smiley faces because I love smiling!! Hehehe

Spongebob [minus the 'squarepants'] bag!

Spongebob bag!!! Omg It is like the cutest thing! I've always wanted a yellow bag so I always turn to a specific character whom is yellow... eg. Spongebob LOL! I cannot find a cute yellow side-bag so I'm really happy and surprised that he got me this!!

It is SO adorable!! LOVE IT!

On another note... here is a simple layered eyeliner look for you! Purple and black!

Does anyone think the eyeliner is too much on a daily basis wear? Because I never really wing out my eyeliner to exaggerate my eye-shape heheheh! Thanks!
