Saturday's Swatches: Face Of Australia Limited Edition Glitterati Nail Collection

Up for today's swatch post is this spankin' new limited edition nail lacquer collection by Face Of Australia, called Glitterati!

When this parcel arrived to my home, I didn't really know what to expect. I definitely knew it was Face Of Australia, but what could they possibly be sending me? HOWEVER! Once I caught a glimpse of these glitter babies, I SQUEALEDDDDDDDDD.

I was like.. "OMG OMG GLITTER. OMG NEW NAIL POLISHES. OMG. FACE OF AUSTRALIA. OMG OMG OMG. CAN'T WAIT TO SHARE THESE WITH MY READERS!".

I've been in the mood for glitters lately so these defintiely arrived at the right time!

The Glitterati collection features 5 clear-based glitter lacquers and 3 pastel-based glitter lacquers. The red glitter lacquer and the light pastel pink one stood out to me most!

Anyways, without further ado, let's get SWATCHING!

Heart Of Glass is the prettiest of the pastel-based glitter lacquers, methinks! It contains red heart pieces and squares, tiny fuschsia hexes, small purple hexes, blue squares and some bars and silver glitters in a milky pastel pink base nail colour. It's on the sheerer side, but dries quick and doesn't look thick or gets clumpy when layered. Also, the heart pieces takes a bit of effort to fish out, but it's not anywhere near impossible.

5 coats

Boogie Wonderand is another sheer lacquer. Three coats was still sheer, so five coats would be ideal for a fuller opacity! This one is quite whacky with its coloured glitters.... It contains tiny fushcia, purple, dark blue and orange hexes along with green, blue and white-silver bars. The bars can definitely pose problems! I found that some sat on its side and for those that did lay properly, there were some that curled up. A top coat should do the trick though :P

Above: 3 coats
Above: 5 coats (I'm also holding the wrong bottle! Yikes!)

Funkytown is the darkest of the bunch! Definitely is funky with its funky grayish-blue colour with slight purple tones(?). Eeek. Not sure what colour it is, but the beige hexes in it definitely pops! Along with the beige hexes, there are also smaller blue and black hexes, and black squares. This one applied to be the most opaque out of the three so two coats was good to go!

OK!! Now onto these clear-based glitter polishes!

Disco Inferno reminds me of a dress I have! The colour theme is EXACTLY like the dress, with its beautiful light blue hexes, and different sized of purple and red hexes. I found that some of the light blue hexes curled up in this one! Eeep.

Dancing Queen is probably the most simple of the bunch with only two different coloured glitter hexes -- black and gold. It reminded me of peppers when I had it on LOL. Also, as odd as it sounds... the colours in this one is actually so simple that I'm not sure how it wear it! What colour do you think I should layer this over? Excuse my uncreative brain!

Studio 54 looks like a rose-gold, yes? It much more coppery though, so if you're after true rose-gold.. probably skip this! I really like this one though for it's similar to Australis' Eureka and Shimmy Shake. It's jam PACKED full of copper coloured hexes and fine glitz, let me tell ya!

Satuday Night Fever... Here it is.. the most colourful and glittery of them ALL. SO many squares and hexes in this one! There's red, yellow/gold, light blue, purple, dark blue and green hexes along with silver, red and green squares. The bottle as a whole reminds me of those confetti pieces they throw at parades... as if someone has scooped up those confetti pieces and turned it into a lacquer. LOL. Just kidding! It has that similar colour scheme as those Deborah Lippman's Happy Birthday, but with squares!

Leaving the best til last... Lookin' For Some Hot Stuff! This one stood out to me most so it's no surprise that as soon as I finished swatching the collection, I whipped this one on straight away! This glitter lacquer contains red, black and light purple hexes with white bars and fine red glitters. I can't wait to show you my manicure with this one! Stay tuned!

Some of these clear-based glitter lacquers (particularly Lookin' For Some Hot Stuff and Saturday Night Fever) actually appeared to be a bit thicker in consistency. It's still easy to work with though, and I think it only looks thicker because it's packed with too much glitz and glam. The rest were average in terms of consistency and were less packed (besides Studio 54).

AGAIN, I'm so happy that Face Of Australia released a glitter collection! It gets me pumped and even more excited for what collection they coming up with, in the future. Mattes, perhaps? Or maybe duochromes? Or holographics?!?!?!

Ok. Getting too excited!

Will you be hunting down these glitter babies once they hit stores?
Which shades are you most excited for?

I'm still looking forward to wearing the two that I've mentioned earlier -- Heart Of Glass and Lookin' For Some Hot Stuff!

NEW LOVE: Face Of Australia Lip Quench in 'Peaches N Cream'

SURPRISE! Not another Australis post today. Instead, let's talk about another well-loved Aussie brand -- Face Of Australia!

As much as I love Face Of Australia, I was never a fan of their highly-raved-about lip quenches. A PR actually sent me a few lip quenches to trial yonks ago, and let me be brutally honest with you.... The moment I applied them, I couldn't help but scrunch up my face into a ball (ok, how do you do that Tram?). There was this really weird scent which turned me off completely (reminded me of Mum's old lipsticks) so I've never touched those two lippies ever again.

Not until recently when I was sent some MORE lip quenches to try... Eep! The two shades were new releases that I've mentioned in my March 2013 Drugstore Launches.

Face Of Australia Lip Quenches in Peaches N Cream, Mocha Latte

So whilst holding 4 Lip Quenches in my hand with knowledge that the unpleasant scent was due to the SPF30+ in the lip product, I thought... "OK. Fine. I'll give it another try... Let's go with this pretty pink shade called Peaches N Cream.".

ANYWAYS, HERE I AM.... and as you can tell from the title, Peaches N Cream is my newest lipstick love that I've been sporting when I'm out and abouts.

I'm in LOVE with the shade! It's a lovely warm-toned pink which pops against my skintone when worn, but doesn't seek too much attention.

The formula was also lovely -- smooth and pigmented. I couldn't say that the formula was "moisturising" [as claimed] though! I didn't feel like it was hydrating or nourishing on the lips, however, in saying so, it definitely wasn't drying. It just sat on the lips perfectly without being too slippery and remained fresh for up to 4-5 hours.

There were two things I thought could've been improved though:
  1. Packaging -- Don't get me wrong! The packaging is wonderful -- sleek and sturdy black tube with a shade preview at the top. However, for newly opened lipsticks, the tip of the bullet never twists all the way down which can get a tad messy if you're not careful when slotting on the lid.
  2. Scent -- I guess it's not really something that "can" be improved (or can it?) but still a con for those who are sensitive with the scents.

That leads us to today's QUESTION OF THE DAY:

Would you rather your lipsticks have SPF30 with an unpleasant scent, or have no scent and SPF30 at all? Why?

For me, I'd rather bear the strong scent of lipsticks than not have SPF30. I'm sure it'll save my lips in the long run, right?!?!?!

Oh, as for its companion 'Mocha Latte'.. I might give that one a miss. Maybe I'll swatch it sometime soon, but the shade isn't one for me, to be honest!

Illamasqua Rubber Brights Nail Polish in Serenity

We all know I'm a drugstore bargain queen so Illamasqua is a brand that I don't touch. However, in all honesty, I LOVE how funky and whack their collections and products can get!

Illamasqua Rubber Brights Nail Varnishes

So when they released their Rubber Brights nail lacquers, I thought "what?! Must get!"....... Hence, here I am with one called 'Serenity' which is described to be a "bright turquoise".

Serenity is my very first turqouise nail colour and I must say that I am LOVING the colour, the brightness AND the semi-matte finish that comes along with it! Although described with a "rubber-like finish", I honestly didn't find any difference in how it felt OR looked in comparison to my other semi-matte lacquers.... so that's a bit of a dud.

In the photos, I'm wearing three average coats since it was a tad streaky even after two coats. The third coat was quite necessary (in my opinion) since it did smooth out the streakiness and gave the manicure a full opaque look.

I've worn this for 8 days and I did find that the semi-matte finish did rub off after a few days, but it's quite chip resistant. Eight days of wear and I've only got minor tip wear, so you can say that I am impressed!

All in all, despite its over-marketed "rubber" finish, I still really like 'Serenity' for its brightness, unique colour and long wearing power. This one's definitely going to my list of favourite blue nail polishes, and I'm hoping that there's a cheaper dupe around since it IS from limited edition range and comes with a hefty price tag.

What do you think of these "Rubber Brights" nail varnishes?
Yay or nay?

Drugstore Cosmetics Launches for Australia -- April 2013

This month seemed like it took a while! Not sure what made it felt so slow.. but I guess that's a good thing! My birthday is coming up and I'd like to stay a teen so I'm hoping April will be even slowerrrrrrrrrrr. Pretty please!

OK. Let's do this!

BYS strikes back [colourfully] with 3 new products! All were launched sometime last month.
  • Colour Change Lipsticks ($3.95, 11 shades): Yes! Colour change lipsticks! They look like jelly in the tube, but applies sheer and subtle.
  • Nail Enamel Duos ($4.95, 8 shades): Contains a white base to help create an "even coverage" for the nail before getting down with the brights. Sounds right, but seems "meh", don't you think?
  • Quick Crackle ($4.95, 6 shades): In other words, your crackle nail polishes in bright neon shades!

Burt's Bees also strikes with their very first cosmetic products -- Lip Glosses and Lip Shines!
  • Lip Gloss ($16.95, 12 shades): Nourishing lip glosses with a vibrant cololur pay off and pearlescent finish. Eep! Pearly finish?
  • Lip Shine ($14.95): A lip gloss which provides sheer colour and moisturising shine.

Nivea Lip Butters -- I've heard alot about these by now! These actually launched last month and it's described as everything an ideal lip care product is to be... Who's tried it?!

RRP $5.19, available in 3 flavours.

Sukin Rose Hip Hydrating Day Cream -- if you love Rose Hip Oil then here's one for you! Launched last month, it is described to reduce signs of ageing and make the skin appear brighter, plump and radiant. I've always loved Sukin's products and this sounds ideal for my drier skin for the upcoming Fall/Winter.

RRP $23.95

OK. Favourite brand alert! Yup, we all know who it is.................... DING! Yes, you are correct... Australis baby!

Australis Body Sprays -- Two fragrances!
  • Get Your Rocks Off: Described as a fruity fragrance. Combination of notes are berry, coconut, mango and apricot.
  • Wild At Heart: Described as a fruity, floral fragrance. Combination of notes are lily, violet and mint.

As for Australis,I've mentioned these products last month, but here's more detail on them:
  • Bronzing Primer ($13.95): is what it is! A primer and bronzer in one which is suppose to smooth and enhance the skin with a natural glow.
  • Pout Pastes ($12.95, 3 shades): I've spoken about (and swatched) these here! A lip gloss which packs a punch of colour. Described to be "non-sticky" with the "longevity of a lipstick".
  • Face & Body Tint ($19.95, 3 shades): A water-based tinted moisturiser for the face and body! Described to leave the skin feeling supple with a dewy look.

Maybelline also adds to their latest release of the Vivids Lipsticks with a limited edition range in collaboration with designer fashion label, We Are Handsome. Sorry, I have no idea how many shades there will be, but they will be available for 8 weeks at Coles and Woolworths, from April!

So that's ALL for this month's launches! It's quite odd how some months are jam packed with SO many launches and some months are a bit "meh". Eeep!

Which product release are you looking forward to?

Australis' Blue Tiger ft. Shimmy Shake!

Hi! I thought I'd pop into ze blog today to share with you my NOTD! I've been obsessed with glitters on accent nails lately. Mainly because they don't look too overwhelming on the nails AND I probably would kill myself if I had to sit and remove glitters from all 10 nails. Having them on my accent nails to remove is bad enough, thanks.

Another day, another Australis feature on ze blog.... I blog about Australis WAY too muchhhhhh.

I'm sporting Blue Tiger on ma nails today! It's a bright medium blue which screams "BAM! Look at me ho"... just kidding! I was quite strucked by its semi-matte finish, but I quite like it for this colour! If you're not a matte-lover, there's nothing a top coat can't fix  :P

As for the formula, it applied beautifully. I never used to be a fan of Australis' nail lacquers, but I'm starting to convert. I remember the fewer first shades I tried by Australis were disgusting. Eeeeep. Thank Lord they've improved it, or it'll be a shame for they have some of the prettiest shades!

I've paired Blue Tiger with Shimmy Shake, a sliver glitter top coat which was also fantastic in terms of quality! I didn't think I'd like it that much, but I loveeee how it looks on the nails! Almost like leftover silver specks, yes?!

As much as I do love glitters, I think it's time to take a break from them. I'm kinda sick of them when it comes to removal (aren't we all?)... On a side note, take a look at my Australis' nail polish collection!!

Yes, I am quite a collector! *ahem* Hoarder, more like it. *ahem*

What are your FAVOURITE blue nail polishes?!

Please share with me some of your favourite blues! I've been quite liking blue nail polishes latelyy. I've never really noticed how gorgeous they are until I've started using these candy blue colours.

Australis Nail Colours are $7.95 each. Available at Priceline, Target, Big W and K-Mart.

Disclaimer: Products mentioned in this post were purchased by me.

A slice of life: On beauty events, the yummies, the funny.

On Justin Timberlake.
OH, I've been starstruck with JT lately, since he hit back with his new album, reminding me much of the old, but gold RNBs. None of the modern poppy and meaningless shit ya know?

Please bring back the bald cut Justin, you hottie!

On beauty events: Glam By Manicare
A few weeks ago, I attended a Masterclass by Glam By Manicare. I've always wondered about false lash styles is the correct one to wear for whichever eye types. The evening was informative, interesting and FUN! Loved every single second of it!

On the yummies.
MY FAVOURITE SECTION PART OF THESE PERSONAL POSTS!! ^_^ I've been munching alot lately -- from restaurants to fast food.. Eeep! Let me take you through my food adventure!

Fatman Catering: Corndogs and Cheesy Chips

Vinh Phat: Har Gow, Dim Sums, Fried Squids, Steamed Wet Cakes, Chicken Feet Salad (?)

Vinh Phat: Chicken Feet (LOL hope this doesn't freak anyone out), Deep fried seafood (not sure what) with mayo!

Mt Pritchard Bistro: Fish & Chips and Mongolian Beef.

Canley Height's Bistro T-bone and McDonald's Bacon & Egg McMuffin

They actually managed to burn the bread pieces of my Bacon & Egg McMuffin, but it actually tasted pretty damn delicious compared to the usual. Will order a burnt Bacon & Egg McMuffin from them next time.

LOL jk.

On a similar note, I dissected my first durian and may I say.. It was the most amazing durian EVER!! :P Yes, I know sometimes it stinks, but I loveee it!

On a smelly durian note.
My mother (aka Mummy Pig) actually works as a gym cleaner and she comes home telling me some of the most hilarious stories. Basically, one of the Asian ladies actually brought durian with her to gym to munch whilst she works out. If you've smelt durian before.. you'll know it stinks like hell for some so soon after that Asian lady entered the gym, they've immediately evacuated everyone from the building and called in all these professionals to check for gas leaks. LOL!! Yes! Turned out it was the smell of durian. HAHAHAH.

On new products to play with.

New products to play with! I can't wait to trial the new Arbonne Cosmetics sent to trial and L'Oreal BB Blush from Priceline's Blogger Pack!

And yes, those BYS lipsticks are colour-changing lipsticks! :P Sounds great, but I've test swatched and it honestly doesn't seem to be that great. The product itself look so pretty though! Looks almost like a jelly lipstick.

As for the Australis Pout Pastes, I already have swatches of those here if you're a keen bean!

On harmless selfies.

Above is the thumbnail for a video I filmed for my Youtube LOL! I always get the worst thumbnails, seriously....

But here's me looking pretty perfect:

Yes, behind is my sister :P

Then here's me looking like I could be cover of an Asian action movie..

Then here's me attempting Alice's signature pose...

Then here's me trialling Australis Pout Paste in Kiss Me Pink...

On the FUNNY.
I've quitted Facebook yonks ago, but I've been lurking back recently for the lol's. Here's one for you...

LOL @ Anna's question.

Take the time out to imagine. Would you prefer changing sex every sneeze or possibly taking a bite out of a baby thinking it was a muffin? LOL!

On my #WomenWishes.
