Face Of Australia Budgeproof Gel Eyeliners Review & Swatches!

I'm pretty sure we are all aware of Face Of Australia's latest launch of their Budge-proof Gel Eyeliners by now, yes? And I'm sure that we all know I'm always lagging reviews hence I've only got to it now... >_<

Face Of Australia's Budge-proof Eyeliners are packaged in cute, little pots with a detachable, clicked-on pointed brush (great for travelling!). The brush actually works really well in creating thinner lines -- alot like the brush that comes with Maybelline's Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner, but smaller in size :P

These are available in 5 shades which are all pretty wearable on its own except for Violet, methinks. My first impressions with the formula was that they're INCREDIBLY soft and creamy which makes them glide on like a dr-dr-dream!

But frankly, they're not the most pigmented out of all the ones I've tried. And I don't mean that they are the sheerest of them all, but I personally found the need to go over with a second layer for a fuller opacity. Sometimes, I also found it necessary to blot off the overloaded excess of eyeliner with my finger to minimise waiting time for it to set. Doesn't bother me too much, but I thought I'd give it a mention... Hehehe.

Sadly, for my hooded eyelids, I cannot go without a primer for these eyeliners would crease within the first half hour, so you guys with double eyelids would be in better luck with these when using without a primer. However, all hopes are not lost for me n my hooded lids! With a primer and blotting off the excess eyeliner, these wears well and lasts up to whopping 6 hours (for the black shades) and 8-9 hours (for the other shades) with little fading and creasing.

To be honest, I was somewhat disappointed in 'Black Shimmers' as a shade, since the amount of shimmers it contained is almost undetectable in the pot and on the eyes.. I truthfully don't see a point in creating such a shade if it looks very much like 'Black' >_<!

Overall, these pots of gel eyeliners surely didn't "wow" me, but I still do think they're AWESOME value for their $9.95 price tag! Best to be worn over a primer if you have hooded eyelids and for each pot you own, you also get a nifty eyeliner brush that comes along.

Speaking of the brushes, my first thought when these goodies arrived at my door was: "BAM! 5 eyeliner brushes to the collection." -- LOL Not sure about you, but there's just NEVER enough eyeliner brushes at home for my sister and I...... Mainly because no one washes them >_< Meep.

Colour Me In: Blue Eyeliners -- What? Who? Where? How?

Hey there my lovelies! So sorry about last week's post being postponed! We were all so busy that we couldn't catch up with last week's post. But that's okay! We're back now!

This week's colour is 'blue' and I've chosen blue eyeliners to do! Don't freak out though -- blue eyeliners are actually not as scary as you think they are, and are nothing like the hard-to-pull-off blue eyeshadows!

Let's talk what, who, where, how and why!


WHAT are blue eyeliners?
Well, blue eyeliners are blue eyeliners........... LOL very nice Tram, very nice! But don't forget that blue eyeliners comes in different tones and finishes too! Most make-up users associate blue eyeliners with brights and bolds but hey! Let it be sky blue, pure blue, cyan or navy.. they're still blue eyeliners, so don't you forget!


WHO can sport blue eyeliners?
Doesn't matter what eye color(s) you have, blue eyeliners are for everyone to sport... at their own flattering shades and tones. It really does take much time for you to figure out which shades you prefer the most.

But in general, ladies with brown, hazel, and green eyes should have no problem with blue eyeliners. As for blue eyes, I would suggest going for bronze shades rather than blue. Problems with blue on blue eyes are:

• It may take over your eye colour rather than making it 'pop'
• Depending on how you wear the eyeliner, it may look awkwardly and overdoing-ly blue

But of course, you can still experiment with blue eyeliners! Just make sure that if you like to make your eyes pop, then always opt for a blue shade lighter than your eye colour.

My eyes are naturally brown and my favourite to use are navy eyeliners -- really makes my eye colour pop! It took me a while to find the 'right shade', but since then.... the brand no longer makes that same shade! T_T

WHERE to find blue eyeliners?
You can find blue eyeliners from most lower-end brands here in Aussie! I actually own two blue eyeliners and they are from Australis and Prestige.

Australis Stay Put Long Lasting Eyeliner in Atlantic -- is a very bright blue which lasts quite long, but unfortunately doesn't have that 'soft' formula as I can really feel it when it glides on. No longer matters though as this is from yonks ago and is now discontinued! They have a newer blue shade called 'Bluebird'.

Prestige Waterproof Eyeliner in Surf -- is a darker royal blue shade. I haven't used this too much, but the formula is okay. It glides on well, is fairly pigmented, but creases too much on me. Not very sure if it's 100% waterproof..


HOW to wear blue eyeliners?
How to wear eyeliners! Yay! Fun [camwhoring] part! There are many fun and flattering ways you can wear blue eyeliners... Leggo!

Firstly! You can wear darker blue eyeliners smudged and smoked out on the bottom lash line! It's a softer look which still incorporates the blue hue! I've used the Prestige Waterproof Eyeliner in Surf here..

Or, you can go wild! Make your eyes pop with a bright blue liner! I do think it's very cute and quirky, which is totally appropriate fro the Spring and Summer to come! Of course, this is with the help of Australis' Stay Put Eyeliner in Atlantic...

Or you can also do double liners, which I would definitely sport any day! It's a fun way to use coloured eyeliners -- simple and fun but less 'out there' (for me anyways as my crease is very teeny!).

Vixen Instant.... Eyeliner Strips?!

Happy weekend y'all!

Ok. So a few weeks ago I've received a care package from Vixen Body Art in the mail and believe me when I say this...I literally SQUEALED when I saw one of the products... Close your eyes and take a wild guess!

It's their Instant Eyeliner Strips!

I was so excited because I LOVE eyeliner art! But at the same time, I really suck at eyeliner art too.. and I don't think it could ever be helped! Purely because I have the patience of a 5 year old and my eyelids are VERY hard to work with... so it has never worked out :(

After receiving that package, I quickly found some time to try out a pair of eyeliner strip from their Burlesque 1. Here are some photos and short description..

Perfecto application!

Basically, they are eyeliner stickers. You just peel it off and stick it on. Quick and easy and you could really never go wrong. The product is very sticky, so don't fret! You can make as many mistakes as you want and it will still adhere :)

Lookin' a tad sloppy..

Expectedly, they did feel a tad unnatural on at first, but not at all irritating and sloppy looking if you apply it correctly (and it's really not hard at all)!

Awesome small-somes!

The downfall to this product is the stickiness as like I said, it's very sticky which also means that it could irritate your eyelids if you peel and stick on continuously! Also, I did find the inner corners of the strips irritating so I snipped it off and went over with a liquid eyeliner instead!

I've only used 1 pair for this post and saving the rest for special dress-up occasions!

Face Of Australia Liquid Eyeliner (in Black) Photos & Review

Towards the end of last year, I've decided to give liquid liners a go (very rarely do I use liquid eyeliners as most of them seem to always have an unattractive satin finish. Looking at reviews all over at Beauty Heaven and other beauty blogs, I was sold by the amount of rave reviews of Face Of Australia's Liquid Eyeliner.

So after trying the liner for quite a while, here's what I've came up with..

Average packaging, but I like that it can actually stand up on its flat bottom since I have a habit of applying eyeliner slowly. I hate tubed products (like mascaras, but you can't really fault them) so I like how I won't have to worry about this rolling around on the table.

Comparison to Maybelline's Baby Lips

The brush is made of quality bristles (which I've never experienced any separating or splitting with) and shaped with an extremely fine tip. Initially, I found the brush applicator to be a tad too lengthy for my personal preference, so this liquid liner was quite hard to use at first. But after practise and practise, creating extremely thin lines with this applicator is not at all impossible.

These days, what I do is just lean the brush applicator above my upper lashline and slowly slide it across. Not sure if you know what I mean, but close your eyes and use your imagination k? After that, I'll just touch up on the inner corners, wing it out (if I want), leave it for 5-10 seconds to dry and then off to my mascara routine!


As for the contained product, it is highly pigmented and water-resistant (no, not waterproof!) and I'm glad that it doesn't have a satin or one of those yucky 'semi-shiny' finish. Just a deep matte black... Me like.

The liner does last all day, doesn't budge, smudge or fade only if you leave it alone. No, it's not glue, so if you do forget and rub your eyes aggressively, don't expect this liner to stay put. But on the brighter side, if that does happen, the liner will just flake off instead of leaving your eyelids in a mess. Isn't that great? No joke.


Overall

An affordable and pigmented black liquid eyeliner which doesn't smudge, budge or fade. Water-resistant formula with a matte finish. The brush applicator has an extremely fine tip which allows you to create both precise thin lines and dramatic thick lines. However, the brush is a tad lengthy in my opinion so if you are new to liquid lining, you may struggle at first, but after practises, who knows? This may be your holy grail.

Australis Eye Pencil (in Black) Photos, Review & Swatches

Hey everyone!! Weekend is approaching so I hope you all a happy weekend! ^_^

I'll be reviewing Australis' Eye Pencil in today's post, so I hope you'd enjoy it and find it helpful!

These eyeliners are available in 7 different shades which is great. The only odd thing about it is that there's an Olive [green] shade which is described on their site as an 'olive green with gold shimmers'. Sounds pretty!

No doubt, just your average pencil eyeliner packaging.

The shade I own is 'Black', but if you own any other shades, the colours on the end will differ. Colour labelling the ends does make it easier to pick from the stash if you have ten thousand eyeliners contained in an organiser.

It comes with a cap (like above) which I personally hate as they are easy to crack and break when they are packed into a travel kit.

The eyeliner itself is pigmented, creamy and soft, but it's not too soft so that's a good thing. It also glides on very well!

As for the formula.. it starts to crease after 30 minutes of application and is not smudge and/or transfer resistant... even with a primer underneath! Mind you, I don't even have oily eyelids to begin with!

You guys all know I'm a big fan of Australis cosmetics.. Sad to say, but the formula of this eyeliner is kinda disappointing. However, I must admit the pigmentation and creaminess is very well-done.

An affordable, pigmented and creamy eyeliner as claimed. However, this eyeliner tends to crease very quickly and is not very transfer-resistant. Also super easy to smudge and the packaging isn't very travel friendly! There are many better eyeliners out there, so I'd say...... skip this.
