Drugstore Cosmetics Launches for Australia -- August 2013

A launch post for you today, despite me laziness lately... Hoping to get back to blogging and vlogging soon!

I've missed some of last month's launches so I thought'd give them a brief mention this month! Maybelline launched quite a few products last month that I wasn't aware of...

  • Color Whisper Lipsticks ($14.95/8 shades) -- You should've heard much about these by now.. They are sheer, subtle lip colours which reminds me much of Revlon's Lip Butters! There are not as many shades, but the shade range is still quite nice!
  • Color Tattoo 24HR Metal Cream Gel Shadow ($11.95/4 shades) - Like their Color Tattoos, but these are metallic eye shadows, with an "intense shine finish".
  • SuperStay 24HR Waterproof Powder ($18.95/3 shades) -- I still haven't seen these instores, but a "waterproof" powder... Wow! This powder is described to "last up to 24 hours whilst actively repelling against water, oil, and sweat for a long lasting matte finish"... Has anyone seen or tried this??

  • Color Show Sequins Nail Lacquers ($5.95/4 shades) -- I haven't seen these in stores yet either!!! It looks SO gorgeous here though! A bit too blingy for my liking, but they look so pretty!
  • Dream Pure BB Cream ($15.95/2 shades) -- Described to be an 8-in-1 "light water gel based" BB cream which is suppose to correct, clear and detoxify the skin for a healthier complexionni! Suitable for those with oily and blemish prone skin.
  • Volum' Express Mega Plush Mascara ($19.95/3 shades) -- This latest Maybelline mascara is a gel-mousse mascara that volumises and lengthens. It's also suppose to prevent dry and weak lashes.. Has quite a few claims, this one!

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind The Lifter Foundation
($25.95/8 shades)
I'm PRETTY sure that this is a new foundation that's due to launch soon, as I haven't seen it around yet! This foundation promises to:
  • Instantly create a smooth and even complexion
  • Minimises the looks of fine lines
  • Improve sagging and loss of elasticity
  • Provide smooth and consistent coverage that corrects imperfections
The interior packaging has a spiral design... which looks pretty, but that just means less product and more packaging really..

Moving onto my favourite brand.. and I'm sure you know who! :P

Australis Cosmetics strikes back with a limited edition collection and some spankin' new glitter top coats!! Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Snagged this image from Australis' official website

Australis Rock Star Collection features 4 new lipstick shades and 4 new nail polish shades! All are pretty strikingly bold and bright! I've swatched the lipsticks here >

That's not the end of it though! They've also released three new GLITTER nail polishes!! Wooooooooooooooooo. Hopefully none of the 3 new shades will share the [disappointing] formula of Space Jam from their previous release!

Frisky Features, Rio Riot, Carnival Chaos

Sinful Colors Diamond Lust Collection ($4.95/5 shades)
I'm actually not too sure when these were launched, but as I haven't seen any bloggers mentioning these.. I figured that they must be new since I've never seen them at Target before until recently. They weren't named "Diamond Lust" or anything! At my local Target, they were just dumped on the Sinful Colors' stands.... but in other countries, these are listed under Sinful Color's Diamond Lust Collection!

(Photo by my phone camera.. >_<!!)

All shades are ridiculously blingy, which makes them a bit too OTT (over the top) for me in all honesty! I'm also aware that they have 7 shades overseas, but I've only found 5 at my local Target ^-^

Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat Textured Nail Colours ($9.95/7 shades)
PREEEEEETY! The barred pieces of these beautiful Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coa Textured top coats are suppose to resemble hand-spun yarn which offers a multidimensional fiber textured effect. Me wants!!!

6 of the 7 shades

essence Ticket To Paradise Limited Edition Collection
Long time no see essence! ^_^ The packaging of these four products are pretty bright and colourful, but in all honesty, these products looks a bit like a joke.. Ya. I'm a packaging-whore, so to me, these do look like much like those products you can get from Barbie doll sets. LOL.

  • Hair Mascara ($5.35/2 shades) - adds streaks of colour to your hair. Easy to apply and easy to wash out. Available in purple and turquoise.
  • Lipgloss ($3.50/3 shades) -- a gloss that features a light shimmer and subtle scent. Available in orange, fuchsia and turquoise.
  • Lipliner ($2.25/2 shades) -- an easy-to-apply light, glossy textured lip liner. Available in orange and fuchsia.
  • Nail Polish ($2.95/4 shades) -- long-lasting nail polishes which features a semi-transparent gel-like texture to create a glossy wet look. Available in gold, orange, turquoise and fuchsia.

Rimmel London Salon Pro With Lycra by Kate ($8.95/14 shades)
Rimmel whips up a new range of lycra nail lacquers! These are suppose to give a gel-like salon manicure finish. The formula promises to offer an extra glossy nail look which is also suppose to be fade-resistant and last up to 10 days! Quite a big claim there...

BYS Velvet Nails ($7.95/12 shades)
Last, but not least... there's BYS with their Velvet Nail kits! If you've been struggling to find velvet nail kits around.. this one's for you! I giggle at the name of the yellow shade.... Fluffy Duckling! SO cute!! ^_^

Okay, that's all for this month! I've also got a few other brands to post about but they are "department" stores brands... I might compile a different launch post for that.. Let me know what you think! Meanwhile....

Let me know which products you are keen to try this month!
Or if you have already tried them.. how did it go for you?

I'm SO in for those Sally Hansen Fuzzy Textured Lacquers... From the swatches I've seen.. they are to-die for! :(

Drugstore Cosmetics Launches for Australia -- January 2013

Hey! Sorry this month's launches is a bit late.. I've been feeling a bit "meh". It's an unexplainable feeling. Ever since I fell sick in Dec 2012 (food poisoning), I haven't been feeling the same. I've been feeling out of it -- not motivated for anything! :(

Hopefully I'll make a comeback soon (lol?). For the moment, let me tell ya who's making a comeback...

Essence! Essence is introducing a "Cherry Blossom Girl" collection to start off the new years, featuring quite a few items!

From top to bottom, left to right:
  • Lipstick Pencil -- Available in 2 shades, $3.50.
  • Highlighter Pen -- Available in 1 shade, $4.95.
  • Nail Polishes -- Available in 4 shades, $3.50.
  • Paper Lashes -- Available in 1 style, $4.50.
  • Quattro Eyeshadows -- Available in 1 shade, $5.95.
  • Shimmery Body Powder -- Available in 1 shade, $6.50.
  • 2 in 1 Eyeliners -- Available in 2 shades, $5.95.

The blacked out circle is suppose to be a blush! This collection launched for UK Fall 2012 I think, so many of you guys from the UK would be familiar with this already! I'm not sure why we're not getting the blush for Aussie's launch (as far as I know anyways). I think the paper lashes are the cutest!!
Another collection is 'Show Your Feet' which features 5 shades of nail polishes ($3.95) for the toes! I'm pretty sure there are some other goodies too like [very soft] toe separators, gel shoe pads and toe protection gel strips.. but I couldn't find any information on those! Meep.

As mentioned in my previous BB Cream Round Up post, you should also be able to find Maybelline's Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream at Priceline sometime this month! Sorry, I can't pin point the exact date, but if you struggle to find it.. give Priceline's online store a go!

Available in 3 shades, $15.95.

Besides that, beauty news that I'm sure you'd be interested...

You can now find Sinful Colors nail polishes at Target! I'm not sure about other stores, but I've heard of this from Emma! She picked 4 babies up for $3.71! I'll have to check this out next time I drop down to Targettt!

What do you think of Essence's new collections?
Which products are you most excited for?

Paper lashes and Sinful Colors Nail Polishes for me! Maybe the highlighting pen too!

Favourite Nail Polishes Photos & Swatches

I've been loving to apply nail polishes lately! I never used to until I realise how ugly nails look without nail polishes!

Today, I thought I'd share with you my most loved colours, most I've included in my 2011 Favourites post and a few that I've recently tried and added to ma fave stash.

Long time favourite 'Limited Edition 2' by Australis (which obviously has been discontinued) is a gorgeous lime green. This shade really is the most unique within lower-end brands here in Aussie. You can skip the formula though, review here.

Then I had an addiction to frosty nail polishes (still do!) after testin' this Collection 2000's polish at the market in Bronze.

You can totally tell why this is a fave polish!! Soooo pretty!

Ulta3's Lolly Pop Lilac is also another pretty pale purple..... with lotsa frost!! It is super cheap and the formula is very decent! One of the best 2 bucks spent in moi life. I love it!

Then after ABBW 2011, I had an opportunity to try ORLY's Sweet Peacock which although applied gloopy and uneven, it is one of the most beautiful frosty polish shade you will ever see! Loses its frost after a day or two though. Despite that, I wore this polish for weeks and couldn't stop starin' at ma nails. I'm not even exaggerating!

All ABBWers knows I'm talking about!

But back to cremes, I was able to score some polishes from B Collection for dirt cheap at the markets. My favourite out of three I've tried is Vancouver. I love this shade for pedicure as it doesn't stand out and is really pretty when you probably don't see anything special... boo-ya! The formula is streaky for the heads up!

Another creme polish which is a fave is Jordana's Chiffon. I'm sure I had this for long now, but never laid an eye on it. Who knows it'd end up being one of my top favourite shades! It's a lovely light grey-toned mocha colour. Applies well, but from what I remember.. it doesn't last very long!

Before all these polishes came to the scene, OPI's You're Such A Kabuki Queen was what I wore all the time during highschool, I must confess that I haven't touched this polish in a long long time and I do apologise! I used to wear crimsons all the time back then but began to opt for reds with pink or coral tones instead. This is a sweet, sweet pinky-red creme polish which is a must have for moi!

To conclude the post, a fifth frosty I've loved is Sinful Colors' Secret Admirer which I must admit... I love because of the sparkles! It's just an almost-black with silver frosts which I already plan to rock out in the upcoming Fall!

Frost, frost, frost, frost. I love frost. The end.

What are your favourite nail polishes?!

Sinful Colors Nail Polish Review & Swatches

Before arriving to this blog post, you have probably heard of Sinful Color nail polishes... especially if you are an American resident.

Unfortunately, we don't have Sinful Colors over here [in Australia], but luckily.. we DO at least have a very affordable and similar nail polish brand, Ulta3. So check that out if you haven't!

Imaged sourced from Google Images

This brand is NOT available in Australia, reportedly. However, I HAVE seen a few colors sold at this bargain store, located at Parramatta Westfields on the bottom floor opposite to KFC. Besides that, you can purchase it from cherryculture for $2.50 [for 15ml/0.5 fl oz].

There are a range of colours you can choose from, crossing a range of finishes also. These polishes are pigmented and great quality for the price! Even though it applies a tad unevenly, it's very forgivable. I didn't notice anything special about their chip-resistant formula, but as long as it lasts for 2+ days, then I'm cool with that.

#314 Beautiful Girl is a lovely strawberry milk pink with a jelly finish. It applies quite sheer and a teeny tad uneven.

#855 Scandal is much like a ruby-pink of a jelly finish also. It's glossier and applies more sheer than 'Beautiful Girl', but it's forgivable.

#928 Let's Meet is my favourite shimmery honeycomb yellow -- gorgeous! The application went through very smoothly which is another reason why I love it!

#832 'This Is It' applies extremely sheer which sometimes makes me think it's just a glitter coat, but it's not. It has a lovely gold colour with gold shimmers, however, like I said, applies extremely sheer (you probably need at least 4 coats to pass) -- not my favourite.

#947 Mint Apple is a mint colour, no doubt. It's a turquoise green colour which in my opinion, suits fairer skin tones better. I somehow find my warm-toned skin clashing with this colour, so as much as I love it, this is not my favourite.

#933 Secret Admirer is a very shimmery black. I love shimmer polishes, but I don't like dark nail colours. Similar to 'Mint Apple', I have to say although it's beautiful... I don't prefer it.

Hope you found it helpful & thanks for dropping by!

Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Secret Admirer Review & Swatches

I'm honestly in love with the SinfulColors nail polishes but I still really wish that I could find them around within the area so I don't gotta shop online!

To my surprise, I actually found some available at a discount bargain store in Parramatta Westfields (on the bottom level, opposite of KFC), but there aren't too many shades.

Still good if you'd like to try out SinfulColors polishes though!

Today, I have on my nails is 'Secret Admirer', a very dark grey packed with super fine silver shimmers! I love it!!

At first, I wasn't too sure about shade, you know I don't like dark nails! But this shade has definitely grown on me!! I love it now! One of my favourites!

Opaque in two coats, perfect application and wears well! There's nothing that I don't like about the polish, except that it's not available locally, but online at Cherry Culture.. cheap as chips with some of the most beautiful shades and finishes!

Sinful Colours Nail Polishes are available online at CherryCulture.com for $2.50 per with many, many different shades/finishes.
