Colour Me In: 50 Shades of Green (not really, just 5!)

'Colour Me In' is a series of posts in collaboration with Alice of ArsyParsy, Tezza of Myteeefine and Amanda of Thai-Tales!

*****

Not really '50 shades of green'. Just 5 very different shades of green nail polishes I own!

These are the ONLY 5 and when I dug them out and had them in my hands, I realised that they are holy golly unique in their own tones!

Oh guys, sorry for the bad pics in this post... As I come home everyday, the sun is always almost setting so I had to rush these photos before it sets because swatches by artificial light sucks... so my nails are totally not prepped for these photos! :(

Anyways, here are the five nail polishes!

From left to right:

L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche in Blue Reef (thumb) has an awesome fast-drying formula with a supersized brush and lovely pigmentation. It's a deeper teal shade so much preferred for the colder seasons in my opinion! ^_^ Click here for more swatches!

B Collection in Bahamas reminds me alot of what a 'venom' colour would be! It's a bit thin in consistency but works fine. I was very surprised to find out that this had much of a matte-r finish. I would rock this somewhat-neon shade in any season!

Ulta3 in Mojito has a thinner consistency too, but I didn't really like the brush. It didn't flare out during the application so I did find it hard to work with but it's lovely and isn't overly poppy like B Collection's Bahamas.

Australis Cosmetics in Limited Edition 2 is now discontinued but is my favourite green nail polish! It's so lovely, unique and flattering in my opinion. Brightens my day :D The formula is however on the thicker side so it can be a bit gloopy. Meep.

Revlon in Beach is also discontinued (I believe!) and it has the thinnest consistency out of the bunch. I had to pack on many layers for an opaque finish. It is a lime green-yellow with a shimmery finish that will definitely be on my nails this Spring/Summer.

Sorry for this post being a tad rushed! I'm SO extremely tired that I can really sit here and complain ALL day! Meep!

Either way, I do hope that you enjoyed reading this post!

Do YOU have a favourite green nail polish that you would rock no matter what seasons?

Also, Anny, my close friend has told me that some of her UTS friends happen to read my blog too! So if you're reading this, hi and thank you SO much for your kind words!

I truly appreciate it and please don't feel shy to leave me any comments, tweet me or catch up with me on my Facebook and/or Instagram (@the_Beautifool)!

& of course, I know my post just isn't enough for you green lovers, so here it goes! If you're more about minty pastel green, check out Tezza's post for more, Alice's space for an eyeshadow look with rainforest inspiration, and Amanda's swatch & look of some gorgeous green eyeshadows! Walla!

DIY Peel Off Base Coat for Nail Polishes

Not too long ago, I stumbled across an Instagram photo by @musicalhouses featuring a tip for DIY peel off base glue which is very much of a dupe for the latest beauty hit, Essence's Peel Off Base Coat from their 'Ready for Boarding' collection. Have you heard?

I've seen a few bloggers featured reviews of Essence's Peel Off Base Coat and I thought that it was such a wonderful product... only to learn that it's very easy to recreate at home by PVA glue.

It won't work with glue sticks -- just PVA glue! Any brand of PVA glue!

So as I was at Woolies just the other night, I thought I'd pick up a bottle of Elmer's School Glue which costed a mere $2.50. Cheapo!

And then applied it all over my nails... with very thick coats!

Wrong wrong wrong! Thin coats are more than enough of what you'd want as it dries faster and works about the same! So please make sure to apply just thin coats!

The PVA glue ended up drying out clear which was awesome! You should make sure that you have a smooth and even layer of PVA glue as base coat to work with since it does very much effect the smoothness of the finish look. Just look at my middle nail... T_T

After that, just apply your nail polishes like the norms and wait for it to dry!

Then when you're sick or wanting to change nail colours, just simply peel off the base coat and along will come the rest of the nail.............. polish!

So that's as easy as ABC, right?

It's a fabulous base coat idea for those stubborn hard-to-remove glitter nail polishes and marble nails and I truly thank the blogger/person who thought of this idea!

Ok.. this was a short post, but I do urge you to read Musical Houses' informative post on this as she does speak about the health concerns, detailed dupe comparison and concerned questions about its lasting power as the glue itself IS 'washable'!

Very informative! You should give it a click!

Have you heard of this idea? Would you try it?

I'm actually on work placement at the moment, so I cannot wear nail polishes whilst working with children. Therefore I cannot try and absolutely have no idea how well this DIY base coat would last.. If you have tried, please share with us in the comments how long the base coat lasted!

Drugstore Make-Up Launches for Australia -- September 2012

Hooray for another launch post! Although I've put myself on a store-shopping ban (kinda!), there's no oddness being genuinely excited for new product launches, right?!

Here's an overview of what's coming near you in the upcoming month!

Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Show Off Mascara -- if you're happy with the regular Scandal Eyes mascara, then maybe you should give this a try! It's a non-clumping fibre mascara, claiming to lengthen and volumise the lashes and to add to it.. there's a cute little ball to the top of the wand! Two in one baby!

RRP $16.95.

Ulta3 Pretty Pastels Collection, I can tell.. will definitely be a hit for the upcoming Spring/Summer, not to mention that pastels are almost always favoured by most beauty lovers! Six new shades to look out for!

RRP $2.25 -- cheaper than chips!

Another exciting [pastels inspired] collection by Bourjois to watch out for! It's their Sweet Paris Spring Collection which consists of:
  • Volume Glamour Max Mascara in Noir Max ($22)
  • Effect 3D Lipglosses in Brun Rose and Rose Pink ($20)
  • 10 Days Nail Enamel in 25 and 26 ($13)
  • Little Round Pot Blush in Rose D''or ($20)
  • Round Eyeshadows in Lime and Pink ($20)
Exciting, right!?

Prices as stated.

My favourite picks! (L-R) Fantasy Fire, Ruby Tuesday, Candy Blue and Purple Haze

If you still can't get enough of the new nail goodies, Max Factor is a brand stand for you to look out for as they'd be gladly introducing a fabulous set of '6 NEW and 3 Limited Edition on-trend shades' to their Mini Nail Polish range! Yippee!

The six NEW shades are: Ruby Tuesday, Purple Haze, Candy Blue, Fantasy Fire, Lacquer Noir and Lollipop, with the three L/E shades in Satsuma, Cactus Green and Chilled Lilac!

RRP $5.95.

That's not all though! ^_^

Max Factor will also be introducing their Glossfinity range of nail lacquers! The range is described to be 'long-wearing that can last up to seven days, streak-free with a high-gloss finish'.

Available in 18 shades, $11.95.

And last, but not least, for Essence fans!

So you've probably heard too much about their Peel Off Base Coat which made it big.. here's the new Essence Latex Nail Polish which is 'a semi-matte nail polish with a latex effect'. Sounds whack, but cool at the same time!

Available in 4 shades, $3.50.

If you're not into the whacky, Essence also has a new Rock Coat which 'adds a smoky finish with glitter particles' which can be used on its own or over another shade.

Available in 1 shade, $3.50.

I know! To your surprise, Essence is also coming out with a Soft Matte Lipgloss which gives the lips a soft matte appearance! *Squealsssssss

Available in 2 shades, $3.50.

...And if you're all about multi-purpose products, here's Essence Rebels Lip & Cheek pot that you may want to check out!

Available in 1 shade, $4.95.

Lastly! Essence Rebels Spiderlash Mascara.. Sounds a tad scary but is all about defining if that's what you're looking for!

Available in 1 shade, $3.25.

So that's all for September! I'm sure that there are more launches that I am unaware of.

If there are any other launches that you are aware of, I'd love if you could share with us!
Besides that, what products are you excited for?

Saturday/Sunday Steals #23

Yeap!!! Saturday/Sunday Steals are back! I haven't stopped going to the markets.. I just can't seem to remember to blog about them!!

Sometimes I actually find bags of stuff in my room and I'm like "Ohhhhhh!!! I bought ya from the markets two weeks ago. Woopsies!".

So this haul is from yonks ago! It's bits and pieces I've gathered over the weeks from ages ago! I really can't keep track so let's just leave it at that. LOL. >_<"

First of all, I passed a Clean & Clear Morning Burst Skin Brightening Facial Scrub for $2!! I actually have this at home, still brand new.. but since it's so cheap, I just couldn't let it pass.. :( Told you I'm a hoarder!

And more nail polishes! One by OPI (doesn't have a label so I have NO idea what it's called!) and Essie's Haute As Hello, from a Summer 2010 Collection.

...Rimmel London 60 Seconds in Euphoria and Creative Nail Designs (CND) Polish in Vintage Jeans!

Not finished yet! Sportsgirl Nail in Cobalt, I think! I doesn't have a label but I was so curious as the shade is so pretty, so swatches came up -- I think it's Cobalt! Also a ZOYAn # nail polish for $2 called 'Renee', from a Summer 2009 Collection!

Last, but not least.. I also found two little blushers! Yay!! More to my blusher collection!

I picked up Canmake Cream Blusher in 05 Sweet Apricot for $1 and Australis' [regular] blusher in Cinnamon Frost for 50c!

Unbelievabubble right? ......Even I was shocked when I saw the blushers for so cheap!

Any bargains you've found lately and would like to share?

Leave me a comment!

Speak with you soon! x

Colour Me In: A Simple Yellow Manicure!

'Colour Me In' is a series of posts in collaboration with Alice of ArsyParsy, Tezza of Myteeefine and Amanda of Thai-Tales!

*****

Hi gorgeous! How have you all been?

If you live in Sydney, you'd know that the weather has just been AWESOME lately (more awesome especially for today!) -- we're talking about no gloomy clouds but instead.. bright sunshines!

Yipeee! That means Spring is just on its way! Hoooray!

So today's post will contain a yellow-based Spring manicure by moi & sad to say, I'm actually not THAT great with nail art :P I know dots, lines and the basic stuff, but nothing too detailed!

Are you ready?!

Simple, huh? Well that's me! As simple as.............. a dimple (awkward similie).
Here are the tools and nail polishes that I've used..

So from left to right..

1. Smiley face with a bow!
Yellow reminds me most of those MSN emoticons, with the yellow colour as a face. So I've recreated my little happy face for Spring!

2. Simple with two green diamantes!
I've always loved something as simple as this. Yeap! Just two small, green diamantés on a yellow base to remind you of the refreshing Spring time, without over-doing it!

3. Dotted french nail outline!
Break off the white line of the French nails! Turn it green! Dot it! It's a fun twist to the usual French white nails baby! Hell yeah, you can make it dashed, solid or smaller dotted if you want to! Or go with colour blocking choices!

4. Yellow in shapes.
Ok, I admit it. I wasn't sure what I was doing with this. Originally, I was suppose to 'recreate the inner pattern of a lemon fruit', but it ended up looking like an outline of a pizza so I went wild. Coloured some triangles in dark with Utla3's Frangipani and some in solid white.

5. Something.
I'm not exactly sure what I did here, but I started off with a yellow french tip, then pulled lines of yellow down from the nail base and finished off with green crosses. LOL! Err... I really like it, but I can't really tell you what the inspiration was behind this one. What do you think?

So that's it! I definitely will be sporting yellow, orange and lotsa pinks and pastel shades this Spring! You watch me!!

What are YOUR go-to Spring nail shades?

For more yellow nails to keep you inspired, check out Amanda's edgy yellow nails and Alice's steps into creating sunset gradient nails! Of course, if you're not at all about yellow nails, go ahead and check out what's Tezza has posted for you at her space! Psssst.. it's something "lemon-aid-y"..

A trip to the Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo!

Hey there ma lovelies!

So this post is a tad overdue since I was expecting to blog right after, but I was waiting for some items that I've purchased to arrive... Eh. Then I figured that I'd do a separate haul post.............. LOL awesome!

The International Spa & Beauty Expo 2012 (open to traders only) was held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre on the 11/12 of August 2012! I went with Alice and fluked our way there from Town Hall Station, arriving at 1-1:30. Pretty late!

Walked in and I was shocked seeing the NYX stand! Also moved along to Konad, Butter London and nails inc!

And then we moved to the main stage area where all the special effects make-up was happening! It was like a catwalk of special effects make-up! Sorry I couldn't remember what the show was exactly called, but it was spectacular!

My favourite..!

Moving on!

And then we passed Artistic Nai Design and the set below is so cute!

Back at the main stage was a Catwalk parade of swimwears! As we watched, next to me sat Arsy (Alice) munching on her sandwich LOL!

Passed by Lip Tattoos by Vixen and Real Technique Brushes by Samantha Chapman at the show too! Didn't know they'd be there!

....of course, I couldn't pass without snapping up at least a photo of the body and eyeliner tattoos!

 SLA Cosmetics

ASAP (skincare!)

Dermalogica!

And then we went around searching for Pure Fiji! I received a sample of their coconut-scented body lotion from Bellabox some time ago and fell IN LOVE with the yummy vanilla scent!

And then we found Nigel Stanislaus, make-up artist for Maybelline! We spoke to him and he was adorbs I'm telling ya! Was able to grab a photo with him without payin' him cheeseburgers!!

And at our last stop... GELATO! I chose strawberry and it wasn't that yummy... I don't think I'm a gelato-person...

Yeap! Very pic heavy post, but better than text heavy! :P Haul post soon!
