As much as I love Face Of Australia, I was never a fan of their highly-raved-about lip quenches. A PR actually sent me a few lip quenches to trial yonks ago, and let me be brutally honest with you.... The moment I applied them, I couldn't help but scrunch up my face into a ball (ok, how do you do that Tram?). There was this really weird scent which turned me off completely (reminded me of Mum's old lipsticks) so I've never touched those two lippies ever again.
Not until recently when I was sent some MORE lip quenches to try... Eep! The two shades were new releases that I've mentioned in my March 2013 Drugstore Launches.
Face Of Australia Lip Quenches in Peaches N Cream, Mocha Latte
So whilst holding 4 Lip Quenches in my hand with knowledge that the unpleasant scent was due to the SPF30+ in the lip product, I thought... "OK. Fine. I'll give it another try... Let's go with this pretty pink shade called Peaches N Cream.".
ANYWAYS, HERE I AM.... and as you can tell from the title, Peaches N Cream is my newest lipstick love that I've been sporting when I'm out and abouts.
I'm in LOVE with the shade! It's a lovely warm-toned pink which pops against my skintone when worn, but doesn't seek too much attention.
The formula was also lovely -- smooth and pigmented. I couldn't say that the formula was "moisturising" [as claimed] though! I didn't feel like it was hydrating or nourishing on the lips, however, in saying so, it definitely wasn't drying. It just sat on the lips perfectly without being too slippery and remained fresh for up to 4-5 hours.
There were two things I thought could've been improved though:
- Packaging -- Don't get me wrong! The packaging is wonderful -- sleek and sturdy black tube with a shade preview at the top. However, for newly opened lipsticks, the tip of the bullet never twists all the way down which can get a tad messy if you're not careful when slotting on the lid.
- Scent -- I guess it's not really something that "can" be improved (or can it?) but still a con for those who are sensitive with the scents.
That leads us to today's QUESTION OF THE DAY:
Would you rather your lipsticks have SPF30 with an unpleasant scent, or have no scent and SPF30 at all? Why?
For me, I'd rather bear the strong scent of lipsticks than not have SPF30. I'm sure it'll save my lips in the long run, right?!?!?!
Oh, as for its companion 'Mocha Latte'.. I might give that one a miss. Maybe I'll swatch it sometime soon, but the shade isn't one for me, to be honest!

Looks beautiful on you!! And I would have to say no SPF because I'm allergic to any products with SPF in it, haha.

Wow, I love this shade! I think it will suit my complexion quite well, a lovely natural pink! I too am NOT a fan of the scent, though I do like when lip products have SPF because then my lips won't get burnt!

It's gorgeous on you! I'm curious as to how it smells now though haha. I'm not fussed with SPF in my lip products to be honest. Probably should be!
ReplyDeleteFor me it depends on how bad the scent is but generally I love the idea of a lipstick with spf in! Can never be too safe :)
ReplyDeleteIn their original Lip quench lipstick range, tbh, none of the shades I really loved.
ReplyDeleteBut THIS one, is right up my alley! It's so pretty!
But, I do have a lot of lipsticks like it and I just really hate the smell of these, they smell like powder or grandma's makeup xD
This is a really pretty shade! I bought Lychee Crush after hearing everyone rave about it and I've hardly worn it because it's not that impressive - and the scent was awful! I'd definitely rather no sunscreen.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty pink on you! But I agree, I really hate the smell of these lipsticks. I also find the formulation way too creamy which makes them tricky to work with.
ReplyDeletei love trying out lipsticks :) thanks for this review
ReplyDeleteThis is such a gorgeous shade! As for SPF, I'm also not a fan of the smell - but at least they provide protection from the sun!

4-5 hours wear is really impressive! The colour looks really nice on you. I have never tried anything from Face Of Australia but it seems like they have some nice products. Most of the lip colours that I reach for on a day to day basis do not have spf in them so I typically opt for a lipbalm with spf or I just go over my lips a little with my face sunscreen. To me, it's nice to have a lip color that has spf but it's not a deal breaker if it doesn't.

Loving the colours! I think I'd prefer to have SPF included, living in Australia and all! I don't mind scents though, it's difficult to make me hate something just for the smell!

I do accept as true with all the ideas you've offered for your post. They are really convincing and will certainly work. Still, the posts are too short for beginners. May you please prolong them a bit from next time? Thanks for the post.

Oh dilemma. Good question.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll go for unpleasant scent with SPF. I'll hope the scent would go away after a while an I could probably cover the scent with a nice lip balm!
Peaches n Cream looks really pretty!
